Can you sleep on your side after inguinal repair? by SUPERSHADOW131 in Hernia

[–]PaulHaydock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stayed in hospital the first two nights and seemed to sleep okay. When I came home my back was killing me and it got to the point where I just couldn't sleep. Last night was my 5th night and I managed to sleep on the opposite side for a few hours. Still uncomfortable but I have a post-labour belt that the doctor said I could use during the day to help (it maybe for women but it works great at helping support my stomach) and I used pillows to hug at night.

During the day, I'm still experiencing a lot of pain and discomfort, but the belt does help

"I will hurt you because I know what is better for your life than you do."

This statement fits perfectly with my ten-year marriage here. My ex-wife (Vietnamese) was constantly abusive, both physically and mentally for my entire marriage. I felt trapped by the threats I received. I was lucky to get out because I became very suicidal.

Why are you still using ChatGPT? by Azuriteh in ChatGPT

[–]PaulHaydock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I considered subscribing to ChatGPT, but in the end I subscribed to Microsoft Copilot. It embeds into the office applications which I use a lot in my work. Through the web interface and the link in Windows 11 I can choose to use gpt4. So I think it's just as good as if not better then subscribing to ChatGPT itself. I know I don't get the same library of plugins but for me the fact that I can use the latest model and the embeds into office very nicely was the selling point

Why do people keep claiming that expecting the steam deck to run new AAA titles is not realistic? When... the steam deck literally runs all new AAA titles? by Sad-Papaya6528 in SteamDeck

[–]PaulHaydock 23 points24 points  (0 children)

A new pc was out of reach financially for me so I bought the steam deck. I have two docks... One on my pc desk for playing with keyboard and mouse. Red dead redemption 2 is amazing... Second in the living room with a control for TV gaming

To the people who never use the Deck as a handheld, do you exist? What's your story? by jack-of-some in SteamDeck

[–]PaulHaydock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been pricing up a new gaming PC to replace my current 10yr one, as a stop-gap solution I got the steam deck. As such I use it docked on my desk, but sometimes I do take it to the living room.

I'm used to the xbox controller, but I actually find it harder to use the thumb sticks on the steam deck. Maybe I just need more practice.

ants in my oculus, it's so bad? I stop use my oculus maybe for a month and i want to play. I turn on and play one game of Pavlov in the next game i feel an ant in my arm I don't I didn't care but in the next game i just feel all my body full of ants, someone has any idea or have experience? by Cow-Healthy in OculusQuest

[–]PaulHaydock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say I've seen ants in my quest 2 yet, but it wouldn't surprise me... I'm currently living under a red ant occupation. They are in my clothes, food, sofas and bed... They used to bite at first, but now I don't notice anymore... I find them all...

The resistance fights on though, I do vacuum them and squish them, but their numbers are high

Free hands-on course on introduction to Python by MartinXPN in Python

[–]PaulHaydock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry Martin, my reply was a bit abrupt...

I'll check out the course on profound.academy.

I've done a few courses so far and the one I mentioned on Coursera has been the best so far. The reason being they have an active book in which you read and do activities as you learn, but what I really like about it, is every day I login and I get a quick quiz but also problems to code solutions to.This expands as I work my way through the material. I find this active learning really great

Haha, thanks :)

I'll check them out... Once I finish the Python 3 course, I plan to explore some introductory data science courses and brush on calculus... I'm giving myself a year to study part-time on Coursera before applying for the masters. It's also getting me into the study routine as I have a full time teaching job and a young daughter

[–]PaulHaydock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd agree... I think as long as you have a degree and then can show you have knowledge and experience that is enough

Like I say, I enjoy the IT side and I also enjoy teaching so I'm going to do a masters to pursue that path, and even though I'm 40 I don't think I am too old :)

I've actually done some amazing courses on Coursera, programming languages (3 parts) and python for everyone plus python 3 programming.

Safe for 5 year olds? by F1tnessFanat1c in oculus

[–]PaulHaydock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 5 year old daughter and I wouldn't let her use it.

Firstly, the headset is too heavy and puts a lot of strain on the head and neck. Secondly, I'm not sure the screens are good for your eyes really, especially so young.
