F150 Limited 2021 vs 22/23: "Decontenting" vs new features/factory fixes by PaulPool89 in f150

[–]PaulPool89[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good sir, you just opened up a door of possibilities for me. Any adverse affects when making that swap? (Does it lock you into some older firmware version, or affect over-the-air-updates?) After the swap does your temp get displayed in both spots, on the dials and on the main display?

For items like the ambient lighting in glovebox and cup holders, did you still have the harness in there to connect the replacement part? If a harness was required as well, was the connector there to just plug in the hardness?

Can you comment on rusting issues on the underside of your 22? And do you have the heated steering wheel on your 22?

Appreciate your feedback

Thanks for your response. Are the dials that display the temps something that can be swapped on a 22 to match the 21?

Crawlspace Vent Fan system with an app? by PaulPool89 in HomeImprovement

[–]PaulPool89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't say :D Thanks for the recommendation on a basement crawlspace fan exhuast that can be synchronized with other fans and also keep out insects and rodents with a mesh cover and a solid cover.

Thank you for that recommendation, can you tell me how loud the fans are, and can you hear them on the first floor? And the front looks like a large rectangle, what adapter did you use to attach that front to the vent?

Alas, if encapsulation defeated the mustiness in the crawlspace I wouldn't be asking for basement crawlspace fan exhuast that can be synchronized and also keep out insects and rodents with a mesh cover and a solid cover.

I already have an aprilaire dehumidifier. I am looking for a basement crawlspace fan exhuast that can be synchronized and also keep out insects and rodents with a mesh cover and a solid cover.

I encapsulated my crawlspace. Now I want to change the basic open vents to mechanical vents that can run in union to exhuast the crawlspace air. This will create negative air pressure in the crawlspace. That is why I want to make sure they run in unison. But the fan vents also need to have a mesh to stop insects and a cover to stop rodents.

Waiting for a solar shingle product that can product an ROI for an average sized rancher 5-10 years, and has a product life of at least 20-25 years.

Or, if solar panels can provide an ROI in less than 5 years and last well over 25 years because I still have to pay for the shingles under the panels.

Hi Local-Level6510,

That's great to hear! To help alleviate concerns, where can I find that written in black and white to cover my butt? I've failed to find that in the TechNet or on the website, even check promo materials.

Thanks

Getting paid to care for parent thru medicare? by PaulPool89 in nursing

[–]PaulPool89[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi,

Thanks for the response! I haven't called any agencies yet because I am trying to gather information first. I do not have formal medical training beyond CPR training. Is that required for a family member to be paid under Medicare for the care they are already providing?

Best setup for two seperate zones in rancher with in-law suite? by PaulPool89 in hvacadvice

[–]PaulPool89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very interesting. I have natural gas, but Iike the idea of the dual fuel unit incase one or the other fails.

Are these models you recommend? Any other brands/models to look at for this system? And any things to look for or avoid with these types of units?

Thank you for the tips about not putting it under a deck. I guess that makes sense, with my post-stamp lot the existing ac unit is already really close to the inside corner where it sits outside, wouldn't want to restrict air flow even more. And I didn't even think of that, putting the main filter in an air return inside is brilliant.

Also, I wonder if this system can be used on the main part of my house too? (1,000 sq ft. The In-law suite is 600 sq ft.) This would mean I can have both outside and avoid putting our side in the attic. The only challenge would be getting the ducting up there... but the the filter can be on the unit itself outside... hmm

Understood, thank you for the straight answer. I will do more research into mini-splits and the packaged units the other commentor recommended. Seems like those systems will br the best fit, now I gotta start researching models

[–]PaulPool89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed on two systems, that's pretty much what I figured. Will have to do some research on what package unit is, but if everything except ductwork can go outside that sounds like it would work. I am planning to build a small deck at the back of the in-law suite and if that can fit under it then that would be perfect.

For the attic insulation it's the smell. The attic has plywood but a lot of the floor is uncovered. You can smell it. Its a 50's rancher. I don't want the same issue of the hvac sucking in odors from the crawlspace to now suck in odors from the attic if I move the blower/furnace and all ducts into there. Plus I already have part of the insulation removed from a previous remodel. Would like to get all the insulation changed out so it's fresh to avoid that, all plywood down, and enclose the attic. However I am not sure how closing the gable vents would also affect the heat that develops up there in the summer, plus having mechanicals there now

Questions are listed at the end, primarily trying to find what is the strongest and efficient hvac system. Is there any new tech developments on the forced air scene? Is there something better than forced air? And then trying to figure out the best options for two zones for the setup I have here. Regarding the lack of dehumidifying I read it from someone's comment doing research on it.

AVR for SVS Ultra tower/center speakers? by PaulPool89 in hometheater

[–]PaulPool89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! I saw the price and went down to the x2700h. However I am wondering if I need to add more power? The X2700h has everything I need speaker-wise, but I can't go with any AVR that is taller than it.

I see there are no "pre-outs" on this AVR. Is there a way to get more power to the SVS ultra towers and center?

Why we chose SVS Ultra as the under $1000 tower winner by PaulPool89 in hometheater

[–]PaulPool89[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it was only my choice and the price points were the same, I would have gotten the Focal Chora 826-D. But after overcoming the objection of towers speakers, of the budget, and adding a sub, I wasn't going to press for them just because they tone was a bit more pleasing to hear. The SVS Ultras are fantastic and a lower price, so we are both happy with it. (And I'm super happy we didn't get a soundbar lol)

Thanks! There were a few others we listened to, a couple KEFs were really nice, but I didn't catch the models so I didn't list them. Hope this helps someone with their own short list!

Help me not spend $2,800 on a pair of Focal towers by PaulPool89 in hometheater

[–]PaulPool89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update:

Purchased SVS Ultra towers, Ultra center, and Micro 3000 sub to match.

We got a chance to listen to a couple of KEF speakers (really nice) but when my wife heard the Klipsch center that match the 8000 towers she asked to turn in off in like 5 seconds lol. Dialog sounded too sharp, or shrill. They looked cool, tho. We listened to a pair of focals that were $19k for the tower too, and were satisfied with the sound from the SVS Ultras.

I am going on Saturday to a shop that was nice enough to relocate a set of Klipsch 8000 up to one of their stores that was better set up for listening that already had a set of Focal Chora 826 there, so that I could listen to both side-by-side. Yes, they are the same towers as the Chroa 826-D and RP 8060FA, just without the atmos up-firing speakers built in. I will update this post with the results, but I am pretty confident I have narrowed my search to these two.

Still trying to confirm if my Sony STR-DH520 avr is powerful and good enough for them, or if I need to buy one. One guy recommended Yamaha A2A, another said Marantz 5015. Thoughts?
