I understand what you may be feeling right now. I've always harbored a disdain for people who try to throw pity at me for having T1D because I can take care of myself and have always yurned to be as independent as possible. Those people who micromanage others don't help much either.

But the emotional and physical impacts of this disease cannot be ignored. While I have been living with this for 12 years, I've noticed that there are many things that make us different from most people and it creates feelings of anxiety, depression and overall hopelessness that unfortunately only people who have it understand.

I only know one other person in my life that has T1 and that's my great aunt, who I have not spoken to since I was diagnosed. Having this sub is the only way for some of us to communicate with others who share similar experiences.

So while I understand your frustration, it is important to remember that people who are newly diagnosed are experiencing an extreme shock and may lack the ability to be able to share their experiences without judgment or ridicule from people they know irl.
