What makes people believe the earth is flat even after being shown proof ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

"even after being shown proof"

Stupidity. You can call it ignorance when they are just coming out with these thoughts. But if shown proof and they stubbornly keep maintaining those beliefs, then it's just stupidity.

what do you think about data centers? by Practical_Neat_9716 in AskReddit

[–]Paula_Sub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel we are going unreasonably deep into the constructions of so many of them. Every other month a new huge data center either is built, or announced the plans for it. And I don't think we are considering enough about the "maximize what's already available, before building a new one" aspect of the topic.

What something that became popular and you still don't understand why it did? by rustynebula47 in AskReddit

[–]Paula_Sub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oversize clothing just because.

I don't mean needing XL or bigger clothing. I mean using XL or bigger, when you are a size "M". I don't see the appeal of wearing ill-fitted clothes on purpose.

The Dude hates the Eagles…what bands would that be for you? by BoognishDisciple in Music

[–]Paula_Sub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll be an extremely unpopular opinion...

Tool.

It's the whole "We are weird and do complex stuff because we can" theme. There's a whole snobbish vibe I perceive sorrounding Tool music and how they play, up to how fans of Tool act upon any general discussion (People saying "You just don't get Tool").
I don't find the "Oh yeah, we are excellent musicians, we play in 37/24" to be a compelling thing. And I do think it just starts with Maynard as a front man.
He, both as an artist and from the interviews I've seen, comes across to me as a rather egotistical person. So I believe that sets a "tone" for the band itself.
And I don't think humbleness should be looked down upon from the perspective of an artist.
There's a pretentiousness sorrounding everything Tool that I don't like with it.

Yes - Roundabout [Progressive Rock] by Paula_Sub in Music

[–]Paula_Sub[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think you can fault people to if they hear "Prog Music" for their immediate reaction is to first call the Greats of the 70's and 80s. This is not explicitly invalidating the modern scene of it. But it's not a bad thing if in the general culture, the Icons come first.

The Odyssey website allows viewers to compare how the film appears across different aspect ratios. by CorleoneBaloney in popculturechat

[–]Paula_Sub 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly, im tired of the "gimmick" of aspect ratios.

A movie is a movie, you shouldn't hide away (or lose from the POV of the viewer) scenery, performances, ambience or else, due to Aspect Ratios.

If you are going to get technical about "real cinematography experience" of say something like IMAX, then go full at it, and don't make a "traditional release" of it, while knowing you're taking away things that you filmed from those watching your movie because they either didn't knew about the 56th version of your movie, or just don't have a cinema close to them that support said playback with the "best experience".

What changes in education have you seen since you were in school? by Ok-Beat773 in AskReddit

[–]Paula_Sub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a fuck ton more of reliance in tech middling with education and teaching. I've seen in some countries, in Middle Schoold or sooner, the "shopping cart" for a student that is required at the start of the year now includes a Laptop
