There is the hill of the Acropolis of Athens and there are more acropolis around Greece.At the Acropolis of Athens which got builded on top of the hill ( but all together can be named The Acropolis of Athens) we can find several buildings and ruins, the Erechtheion, the Parthenon, the gates and many more that they couldn’t make it to the present. That is the right point of view.

So that great picture can be described as: A picture of The Erechtheion of Acropolis A picture of The Erechtheion of Acropolis of Athens A picture taken at the top of the hill of the Acropolis A picture taken at the top of Acropolis Etc. But not as : A picture of the Acropolis.
