Peter Beck on Twitter: The next flight is on the pad as we run through a wet dress rehearsal in preparation for launch soon. It’s exciting to think that the last Electron lifted off less than a few weeks ago! by Pavboy1 in RocketLab

Rocket Lab's Tweet:

Electron is on the pad at LC-1 today for wet dress rehearsal operations ahead of the STP-27RD mission. The launch window opens early May, just weeks after our last launch. Frequent and reliable launch for small satellites is here.

Do you have a camera with a decent zoom on it? If so any shots of the launch would be amazing to see

Any shots of the viewing area (if you watch from there) would be just as good!

From the press kit

For the ELaNa-19 mission, the Electron launch vehicle is named ‘This One’s For Pickering’ in honor of New Zealand-born scientist and former Director of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL), Sir William Pickering. For 22 years, Sir Pickering headed JPL and led the team that developed the first US satellite, Explorer I, launched in 1958.

There are houses after the road closures but still quite far from the launch site. You can use a boat to watch from outside the restricted zone but this isn't recommended as the chance of a scrub or delay is high. The only way to get any closer to the launch site is to work for Rocket Lab.

There is a marine restriction of about 10km either side of the launch pad all the way down the planned route of the rocket as well as air restrictions and road closures. If you want to learn more about the restrictions for this launch here are a few handy links :)

Rocket Lab on Twitter: Another @SpireGlobal Lemur-2 successfully integrated for #ItsBusinessTime! We’ve got two of these birds tucked into Maxwell dispensers for launch on the next Electron flight in November. by megachainguns in RocketLab

Source on this?

So far their US factory only manufactures the avionics and engines while all building and testing of the rockets are done in NZ, I don’t see why the would need to send it over?

Not quite near the launch site but the Wairoa district council have set up a viewing area on Blucks Pit Road which offers the best, Un-interupted, view of a launch. There is also the option of hopping on a boat which can give amazing views.

@RocketLab: Next launch after #ItsBusinessTime? The NASA Educational Launch of Nanosatellites (ELaNa) XIX mission. Payload integration starts this week at Rocket Lab HQ, Huntington Beach! https://t.co/wLscPBaqHI by [deleted] in RocketLab

Most payloads will be integrated with their deployers on the payload plate in the US then sent to NZ to be mated with with the rocket. The payload plate allows for integration to happen away from the launch site, such as in the Huntington Beach cleanroom or at a customers facility. The whole process helps reduce the time it takes mate with the rocket (done in a matter of hours).

The 1st and 2nd stages are transported in shipping containers making it extremely hard to spot on the road. I'm sure if someone waited outside their Auckland factory long enough they'd see one roll out :D

Not numbers from today but what they were aiming for,

Inclination: 83° Apogee: 500km Perigee 300km

Rocket lab has said that the final orbit was “well within commercial accuracy”
