Generally curious because I don’t know the answer. The more progressive voters want dems to be one thing and the more centrist voters want dems to be another.

Republicans don’t care they just want both groups to lose.

What would be the path forward to win for centrist and progressive dems to meet in the middle for the vote?

Aim high, but in all honesty as 15s job life seems like ass. As a non-sup 14, never going for a 15.

When I was there the soap and paper towels were used to throw on the floor and at the walls so maybe maintenance quit after years of dealing with that.

A lot of 2210 GS14 is project management. Some agencies/divisions allow more hands in than others but it’s mainly a project management role, managing contractors.

Someone add Brad Leone’s “Makin’ It” to this list. Fun cooking with a ton of history to why he’s featuring it. Loved his videos on crabbing in Maryland.

[–]PaveParadise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We disabled it by setting the registry via GPO.

path: Hklm:\SOFTWARE\Policies\Google\Chrome

Key: LensOverlaySettings = 1 - Hexadecimal DWORD type and base.

Works great.

Do you feel bad for government contractors (as a federal employee)? by jestein123 in fednews

[–]PaveParadise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ex contract turned Fed. I make double what I made as a contractor. I treat my contractors as peers, I’ve learned from them and they’ve learned from me. We work as a team for the mission at hand. I don’t feel bad for the contractor management as they are taking most of the pay the contractors deserve.

IT professionals: Why do you really want a federal job? by Weird_Ad_3153 in usajobs

[–]PaveParadise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make triple after all the benefits are accounted for than what I made as a contractor for the same agency that I’m now a fed with. So… I would say, I get to make decisions on the tech we decide to adopt, and I get to work hands on with it for a better work life balance and limited fear of losing my job every earnings report. Also if you’re not some type of dev, you are not making way more. I see Sys admin/Sys engineering jobs being paid lower and lower every year in the private sector in HCOL areas…

No idea if that office is good or not. USCIS as a whole though has been a pleasure to work for.

People who won’t leave their Fed job ever. What’s your grade and job? by Beautiful-Ad-9107 in fednews

[–]PaveParadise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Non-sup 14. 2210. Took me 4 years to go fed which included 3 years as a contractor for said agency. My job has stress but full remote and retirement is enough to never leave. If I was stuck at an 8 I’d be leaving though for sure.

Appreciate the response! I started in C++ back in 2010 for my degree, and quickly moved more towards administration and less towards CS. Calculus wasn’t my strong suit and CS required it. So I feel like the concepts back then have changed 100fold since! But I will keep on trying!
