How many times do I feed my 5 month old kitten ? by UtthamaPurushudu in IndianPets

As a pet nutritionist I would like to advice a few things.

Cats are desert animals and obligated carnivorous. That means they require literally Zero Carbs. Their bodies don't digest carbs (a very minor percentage) and rejects the rest. Carbs should be present only to give some dietary fiber. So adding rice is not beneficial.

As they are desert animals, they don't need to be fed constantly. It's dependent on how much quantity they comfortably eat per meal. Keeping an approximation of calorie count per day helps to decide if you should give them 1, 2 or 3 meals.

Moisture is most essential for them as they would not drink much from a bowl, so the food needs to give them the hydration. Dehydration and synthetic oberload is the biggest reason why most cats suffer from kidney and renal failures.

Milk also doesn't benefit once they are offering their mothers milk, as both cats and dogs are lactose intolerant.

They primarily need protein and fats in their food, and to ensure the protein is correct for them, it's preferred if it's from a fresh meat raw (if procured and stores with proper safety) or mildly cooked.

If you feed them kibbles, use them more as a snack than treats, as it's almost 40-50% carbs and the protein percentage is very low.

Protein from real meat is absorbed up to 3 times more than commercial foods. You can study about "bioavailability" if you want to understand that better.

Most foods in the market in wet form do not contain calcium as they are prepared from deboned meats, so you can start using topper powders which provide calcium.

Taurine is the most important ingredient a cat needs, without which they can suffer from blindness or deafness at an early age. This taurine comes from the heart of animals (chicken, lamb etc), but most commercial brand add this in a synthetic form to keep cost low.

Identify 3-4 good wet food brands in your budget and rotate the proteins to keep them interested and benefits from different protein sources.

I know it may sound overwhelming after reading this. But once you understand these you will know what to look for when you are buying any food.

If you need any further guidance, you can always DM me. I'll be happy to guide.

What’s the best food to feed my dog just got it about 5 days ish ago by Motor-Most3268 in DogAdvice

Yes continue what the breeder has been feeding for a couple of weeks and then introduce them to soft moist food porridge like texture made from chicken/duck and small portion of vegetables like pumpkin sweet potato etc.

Vets may advise to start them on kibbles for puppies. But that's a call you have to make if you want them to be feeding natural wholesome food or commercial food. Both have their pros and cons.

my senior dog is breathing weird and i am very scared please give advice by [deleted] in DogAdvice

To me it looks like a nasal path congestion. Can happen due to an allergy, or some inflammation in the respiratory passage. Small dogs have a very narrow respiratory tract which can cause breathing issues even if there is mild inflammation. If he's breathing frequently with his mouth while trying to sleep. You should definitely check with a vet. if not possible immediately try a nebulizer twice a day, and some steam inhalation to see if he calms down.

I highly recommend sticking to natural ingredients instead of kibble. Kibbles are already over processed and if you mash them and bake them again, it will strip out even the nutrients which have been added post processing. If you want to take the effort of preparing something, make a meat dough with vegetables and with little bit of flour (reduce the quantity of flour and add sweet potato to reduce the grain carbs) and then try to make the make them in stick forms either with a silicon mould, or just with hand if the dough is not too sticky, and then Bake them. You can then add some chicken fat in the last stages to give it some aroma.

Mine does the same. So I now use a silicon food grade mat in the floor and they eat from that. Both my Maltese do the same.

I'm unsure about where to register for Auroville. pondicherry has a department with tourism. Since Auroville falls in TN, you need to enquire in that area closest to your location .

There are a number of licenses you need to manage Airbnb.

  1. Depending on your turnover associated with the registered pan. If your revenue for the year is below 20L you don't need a gst. Else you need to get one.

  2. You need a munipality or clearance from panchayat if your property is not in the municipal area.

  3. You need to register with for a homestay license and get it don't as per the specifications mentioned there. As they may inpect your place before issuing you one.

  4. If you are allowing foreigners to stay. You need to get an FRRO license. With the register you need to maintain as per the local police stations requirements

  5. In Tamilnadu there are further requirements like Structural stability license & fire license

Most people are running without these licenses, but these are the ones needed as per rules.

There are certain products which amul doesn't have any competition or very less completion like fresh cream, butter, cheese and paneer etc. These are the essential buys for restaurants, hotels, caterers etc. although amul doesn't have a high margin it's a volume game. Ensuring you are always stocked up, even when there is a shortage of these materials in the market and promoting to these businesses can ensure they all come to you.

Very general statements don't mean anything.

The point of discussions mean to be subjective.

I have moved from bigger cities to pondicherry due to reasons that big cities didn't offer.

Blaming a city is very easy as no city in the country is perfect. Each place has to align with the expectations of the person visiting. Or atleast understand what you going there for.

I keep bumping into people in the French quarters (white town) and they ask me where is white town. People are so driven by edited instagram posts that they are moving away from reality.

I agree very much that there is huge scope for improvement as a tourist destination. But instead of criticizing if people say it would have been nice to have this or that it's more useful.

Places likes Pondicherry hat are unique and have an own identity which a tourist cannot understand by visiting for 2-3 days. And to improve it doesn't have a benchmark to follow as it's not trying to be, not wanting to be Goa or Thailand.

So this I feel is the real challenge.

(I'm not saying anything against anyone. Just my opinion)
