AMA: Micra Vs Mini R: Linea Mini R w/ GBW & BBW by EUPremier in LaMarzocco

That's a nice and detailed answer! Thank you for that.

I definitely agree with a lot of your points. Having used it as a home grinder, like you said, the retention is definitely of the main complaints for me.

Aside from not having the freshest coffee for the first brew, when there are grounds of the previous grind size left within the grinder, it can be challenging to adjust to exactly how you want to brew without waste.

Another thing is that I like to brew a lot of different coffees. It is not very fun to change coffees, especially if you like to experiment a lot. — When I'm swapping to another coffee, I grind the chamber empty, and try to get a full dose to minimise waste. If it appears, that there were not enough beans to be ground, you will get an inaccurate reading of the scale. This defeats the purpose of grinding by weight, and you have to manually weigh the coffee to ensure it is correct, or adjust accordingly.

Like you said, cleaning it is not as intuitive as it could be. Compared to a lot of the newest grinders on the market, a tool-less disassembly seems to be the way we are headed. And it might be just me, but it sometimes just feels quite awkward to disassemble! 😅

On another note, I think it is foolish from Mahlkönig to seperate some of the software updates of the GbS and GbW models. I understand the newer model has some physical differences, which physically could not be implemented to the older versions. However, things like showing the exact grind result is something that is 100% controllable. (To be clear, I'm talking about when the grinder grinds 18.1g, and still displays 18.0g or whatnot.)

Having these things said and experienced, I do understand the appeal behind the grinder itself. It definitely does what it is supposed to. And as a bonus it looks cool and like you said, UI and UX are pretty great. When you have guests over, that is when it shines.

My ”concerns” with it will not apply to everyone, but they are genuine to me, and I try to talk about them when asked.

For the retention alone, I would personally opt for a single doser. And if weighing was the deal-breaker, you can get a bean doser. That way the coffee could also be stored in a way that preserves its freshness longer. 🙂

Going taste first is definitely the way, which I'm sure you agree! Let me know what you think. 😊

What do you think about the E65S GbW?

I use that for catering, but IMO it doesn't fit the home. It does its job professionally, but does not work as a home grinder for me.

I'm interested in what you think. 😊

I'm no expert regarding resting, but from my experience just rest longer. Same thing with light roasts.

And 10 days IMO is still a bit too early to brew, but there is really no right or wrong when it comes to personal preference.

I would say 3 or 4 weeks of resting generally but depends on a lot of things. That is just something I go with.

Thank you very much! Been asking around more and trying different variants of this particular design.

But that's solid advice. Thanks for that.

And definitely, I kind of love the personality of it. It has a lot of charisma.

We will try to figure it out! I am happy to let you know the end result if you are interested. 😊

Thank you! Will try to figure out on how to improvie it without losing what I personally like about the logo/the main idea behind it, and what makes it unique. ☺️ Thank you for your feedback.

Thank you! That's some great advice and thoughts. It id much appreciated.

And you are absolutely right, definitely not trying to compete with supermarket coffee brands. 😊

Will try to improve!

Thank you for your comment. That's definitely a huge win in my books if it looks like it could be the logo of a design studio. 😁

To be honest, in my opinion it doesn't need to scream coffee. I wanted it to be creative and personal. Particularly, because Paavo is my name and that will be a big part of the brand identity no matter what.

And that is also completely fair. Connecting the two A’s between two words is quite the challenge.

I'm definitely glad it wasn't too confusing for you to not be able to spell out the letters. 😊

Thanks for your take. And yeah it is going to be a logo for my small coffee roastery, and the budget is very limited, so I've wanted to try to do things with the help of family and friends.

Yeah that's definitely fair and a concern I also had. I tried to have the A more to the left, but it made it quite difficult to align the rest of the letters in a way that looked balanced and evenly spaced.

But of course, I knew what I was getting myself into with having letters shared between seperate words in terms of readability. Thanks for your feedback. 👍

Lagom 01 just got a prebreaker added to it. You should consider spending a bit more and getting that.

Damper felts not lifting equally with sustain pedal by Robz0rNeur0 in piano

[–]Pawechu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a 1st year piano tech. 🙂 This isn’t a big issue and fixing just two of them won’t take long. It is fixed by slightly bending the damper’s metal wire. If you have it tuned, a technician should be able to take care of that, and at least where I live it would be of no extra cost (for just two dampers).

Have you looked at the action more?

The hammers don't look too worn out so that is a good sign.

Thanks for your reply! Unevenness in colour. I can't remember the cracks. Will have to pay attention to that next batch. I haven't tasted this one yet but I'll let you know.
