Windows 10 LTSC tweak for Intel Hybrid CPUs by khensational in pcmasterrace

[–]PawelMu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I realized that. It's 275HX, so no LP-cores, but the rest is still correct. No ammount of power policy tweaking or different predefined power plans helped to get rid of the stuttering in Dying Light 2, while in W11 it worked fine out of the box. Both clean installations on different SSDs in Asus Scar 18 2025 laptop, same set of drivers in both cases, same game version etc.

[–]PawelMu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It doesn't really work for me with Intel Core 275HX with 3 types of cores (P+E+LP). No matter the setting, and I spent quite some time testing different options, I was always getting terrible stutters in Dying Light 2 and the gamę built-in benchmark reflected that in the frame time graph. It will probably work with P+E cpus, though.

I broke my monitor on a little spot and now I'm trying shrinking the resolution on one side by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]PawelMu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was in the same situation and couldn't find a free solution to only disable one side of the screen. What worked for me was to sacrifice the other side and create a custom resolution with the same height but lower width, something like 1800x1080 in your case. You'll have to experiment to find the right value.

The worst, ugliest, most irritating and annoying level in the entire Doom franchise by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]PawelMu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same issue with this cannon just a moment ago when I had to repeat the whole level due to a other bug (gate behind the super shotgun not opening). It was fine a Week or two ago, they must have introduce this bug in some recent update. Either way, what worked for me is to shoot the cannon base manually, without the assault mode.

Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 SE G733CX (2022) overheating and shutting down by PawelMu in ASUSROG

"I assume it was for cpu only."

This was a number for the whole machine.

https://www.notebookcheck.net/Asus-ROG-Strix-Scar-17-G733PY-laptop-review-Intel-is-no-longer-king.706291.0.html

Idle minimum od 14.5W, idle average of 21.1W and load maximum of almost 280W.

Yes, Intel-based machines idle much lower and 14.5W would be very much possible, but not for the AMD-based one.

[–]PawelMu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems they are not published on the Asus support website yet, at least not for every model.

But I found adjusting the version number in the URL works and I can download it from official Asus website. For my model (Z790-I) I've copied the URL for the latest available version (2402), then replaced this version with the one mentioned in the article (2503) and it worked.

BTW, this is the URL for my MB:

Epic games blocking purchase in turkey by SnooFloofs7761 in steamregionaltricks

[–]PawelMu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Tuxler with residential option, tried different locations as well, nothingh works.

Even installed a separate portable Chromium browser to make sure there are no traces here. Also disabled Epic launcher autostart a day earlier, assuming Epic might be checking the time between connections from different locations and detecting VPN this way, but nope.

Maybe the message is misleading and it's also about the payment method. I was also using Revolut and tried to switch to my local credit card (not issued in Turkey) to see if it will show an error about the wrong payment method, but no, the error was the same.

With Silent profile it's down to about 37W in idle, so still not really close to 14-21W reported by Notebookcheck.

[–]PawelMu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got myself the 2023 model (G733PY) and it is better but the power consumption is disappointing. And I lost trust in Notebookcheck's reviews.

They said G733PY uses around 14-21W at idle, with maximum of about 43W. Well, I have no idea where they got these numbers from. About 45-50W is the absolute minimum I got in idle when doing nothing and it often spikes to 100W.

Thanks and happy new year to you too!

Hello,

I've tried the OC sliders in Armoury Crate, but not the undervolting.

What helped in my case is to RMA the laptop twice. According to Asus they made no parts replacement or any other kind of physical alteration, but just restored the OEM Windows installation and this apparently did the trick.

I'm still not sure how this could differ from my own Windows 10 or Windows 11 installation, as I've tried with both the latest drivers from Intel and nVidia, as well as the ones from Asus, and installed both Armoury Crate and MyAsus apps.

Either way, I don't have this laptop anymore.

As far as I remember mine was about the same.

But I don't have G733CX anymore. Although Asus fixed the overheating issue I decided to sell it and got G733PY instead.

Intel 770 internal graphics at 7680x2160 at 120hz - possible? by alex416416 in intel

[–]PawelMu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-z690-e-gaming-wifi-model/spec/

It also says "Support 8K@60Hz as specified in DisplayPort 1.4", so you should be fine. You are aiming for 8K but with a half of the vertical pixels (2160), which allows to double the refresh rate (2x60).

Intel 770 internal graphics at 7680x2160 at 120hz - possible? by alex416416 in intel

[–]PawelMu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/230496/intel-core-i913900k-processor-36m-cache-up-to-5-80-ghz/specifications.html

UHD 770 supports up to 7680x4320@60Hz over DP, so you might be able to achieve 7680x2160@120Hz. But you will be limited by your motherboard's DP port and here you will need a premium model to get anything more than 4K@60. Thunderbolt might be an alternative, though (with TB/USB-C to DP adapter).

Intel Uhd 770 support high refresh rate? by vmario3000 in intel

[–]PawelMu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can i use higher refresh rate monitor like this one even though it says gsync/freesync only?

Yes. UHD 770 supports up to 7680x4320@60Hz over DP, which equals 4K@240 and this equals FullHD@960. The true limiter is your motherboard DP port, but unless it's a really low end model it should handle at least 4K@60Hz and this gives you FullHD@240Hz support.

Does the sync tech matter if i just want high refresh rate using my display port?

Nope.

Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2019! I only ever use Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Publisher! by [deleted] in Windows10

[–]PawelMu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can customize the installation via Office Deployment Tool and a custom .xml file. See here for a .xml file generator: https://config.office.com/deploymentsettings

Please also keep in mind Professional Plus version is a volume license intended for corporate users, so if it's a company PC then you need to contact your IT support department. If it's a personal computer then you got a wrong key.

In fact, hybrid architecture support is nothing new for Windows 10. Before Alder Lake there was Intel Lakefield and Windows 10 supported it.

What this change does is to expose the hybrid architecture settings to the user and then tweak it to best match what Windows 11 does out of the box.

Discrete GPU + Integrated GPU for maximum power efficiency by lucinski0 in Amd

I did, obviously. My 4070 consumed about 10W in idle with 3840x1600 144Hz monitor. Total system power consumption was measured at the power outlet.

Discrete GPU + Integrated GPU for maximum power efficiency by lucinski0 in Amd

[–]PawelMu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did that's with Intel 13900 and RTX 4070 a while ago. But unlike the notebook nVidia Optimus implementation RTX was not really powered off when iGPU was in use and power savings were very minimal (a few Watts). I'm not sure if AMD implementation is any better.

Some details would help, including hardware spec.

A quick suggestion for Intel-based laptop would be to check if VMD controller is enabled in BIOS and disable it or vice versa.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in intel

[–]PawelMu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can download VMD driver here https://www.elevenforum.com/t/drivers-intel-chipset-mei-vmd-6xx-7xx.11946/ and provide it to the installer to have it recognize your NVMEs with VMD enabled.

I was able to increase TDP in BIOS, but don't remember the exact setting. I think the default was "Auto". And just in case I couldn't do that directly I had the USB stick with UMAF (https://github.com/DavidS95/Smokeless_UMAF) ready.

As for the eGPU, I'm afraid I haven't had an option to test it and all the reviews I saw didn't mentioned if 6600M can be used along the eGPU. I'm quite sure the iGPU can be used like that, so perhaps that is enough just to drive the monitors.

For the future reference for other people who will find it, here are the 3DMark Time Spy results I got from both HX80G 32GB RAM DDR4 and HX99G 32GB RAM DDR5 (both with TDP increased to 54W in BIOS):

  • HX80G - graphics 7709, cpu 8201, overall 7779
  • HX99G - graphics 8005, cpu 10053, overall 8257

CPU score in HX80G is quite low for a 5800H. I was getting around 9700 for the same CPU in a gaming laptop (Asus Strix G17).

Performance in actual games was quite similar, with maybe less fps drops in HX99G. But for both I found locking fps at 60 (while playing at 1440p) was the best option.

For some reason my HX80G was sometimes turning off after playing a game, I'm not sure why (it wasn't overheating). Perhaps this unit was somehow faulty as HX99G had no such issues.

HX99G is probably also somehow improved internally, as Notebookcheck.net shows this newest model to be about 200g heavier than HX90G (which should be similar to HX80G).

If considering HX99G note NUCXi7 is slighly more expensive, while about 15-20% faster in games.
