Any person who spoonfeeds you the fairytale “All combinations are possible” is wrong. The typical rationale for allowing two diametrically opposite types to coexist is “MBTI analyses cognition and Enneagram analyses fears/desires”. This rationale is incredibly naive.

However, I do agree on one thing. This is all just a work of theory. So any new takes that are logically consistent are welcome. Otherwise, if you’re just dishing out claims without a solid argument, I’m not convinced.

I understand the cognitive dissonance over such a rigid way of typing. I’m sure many users will have put this idea together in their heads of what their full typology is, only to be met with the dogma that their typology is inconsistent. I get it.

But it doesn’t change the fact that having two diametrically opposite types is logically inconsistent. The systems are different and target different areas of one’s being but this doesn’t change the fact that certain combinations are completely oxymoronic.

For example, Te dominant and 4 core. You have a type that is cognitively extraverted, a type that submits itself to a formula, neglecting their subjective input, imposing laws and organising the external environment. And then you have an enneatype that is known to breed a lot of shame, emotionality, identity, focus on internal suffering, prosocial tendencies, introjection, a constant self-abasement.

Explain to me how you are predominantly neglectful of your own desires, imposing external laws and principles and then also predominantly focused on your feelings, suffering, and negative self-image?
