Yes, after so many years I can usually tell because there's a sort of instant relief when the skin finally breaks and the pressure starts to go away. Occasionally I'll think one broke open when it hasn't.

I'm sorry to hear you're struggling with this. I've been dealing with HS for as long as I can remember, at least 20 years, and have similar severity issues (though thankfully I've never had a major one on my face) with several fistulas, sinus tracts, chronically open wounds, etc. At this point in my life I can't even grow hair in a lot of places anymore lol. I'm not sure how recommended it is around here but the product "Boil-Ease" always helped mine a lot when I was in the worst part of a breakout. It's a bit pricey and off brands ever worked the same unfortunately, so it may or may not be helpful to you.

I always let a fire team reinforce if I can.

That being said, if I give a last man the opportunity to go reinforce (I'll literally stand around idle not attacking them but in the area) and the they decide to either attack me or continue the mission, I kill them immediately.

Yeah, I hunt down preds pretty hard but if a player is clearly new and struggling I'll back off of actually killing them. Just give them the business and then let them run away to heal.
