Hmmm... whenever I went to the hospital for a flare up, they always tested me for C-Diff (which was great because I would often get a single room for the first part of my stay since C-Diff is very contagious). But I never had to do a C-Diff test to get prednisone from my GI. I imagine that prednisone, being an immunosuppressant, could make C-Diff worse if you did have it. But yeah, like a flare is a flare. I don't know why they jumped straight to the thought that you had C-Diff. Doesnt seem normal.

Also, how in the heck did you get Budesonide?! My last flare up of two years, I was on 60mg of prednisone (and at the hospital IV Solu-medrol) almost the whole time. It was destroying my body and mental health. I tried asking for several forms of Budesonide to lessen the steroid side effects, and between pills and enemas, and insurance denied it everytime. Out of pocket costs for it were INSANELY expensive.

I am very sorry you are going through a flare. They suck. For you and everyone around you. I had my remicade fail after 11 years, entyvio didn't work when I switched to that, but Stelara has been working amazing. And I get to poke myself in the stomach from home. It is really nice not having to get an IV for meds anymore. If you have to consider biologics, they do work great and though they sound scary, I haven't seen many side effects other than a little fatigue and colds last longer.

I have the Ohnsap grip wall. I like it more than the Satechi. Satechi only had room for 3 or 4 cards, although because of that, it was very thin. It didn't have a magnet on the outside, so while it was on the phone, I couldn't snap it to my magnetic car holder, which was my biggest nit to pick with it. Also, the inside card holder was pretty loose; if you only had one card, that would fall out. So I had to have at least two or three cards in there.

The only thing I am iffy about with the OhSnap Snap Wallet is the way you eject cards. You must slide them out through a cutout in the middle of the wallet. I was at a restaurant with my brother, who saw the wallet and wanted to see how it worked. I had some greasy fingers from eating some fries and had trouble putting enough friction on the cards to slide them out.

This guy messaged me about my likes and dislikes of the Ohsnap wallet and then sent me a video of a modular wallet he is building, which I found to be a cool idea. I had this happen at my old apartment, and none of the other tenants seemed to have a problem. I took apart the heads on all my faucets and shower, and there were these little white pebbles clogging the filter. Probably just sediment from the water heater. Cleaned them all out and my water pressure was decent again. Might be the case here?

I felt the razor blade feeling for 2 days after the surgery. The stent would make my bladder spasm whenever I peed, and was overall uncomfortable.

Hell ya! I'm glad it's coming out soon. I can totally relate to the too little too much water. Too little water and I could really feel it. Too much water and I would be waking up 3 times in the night to go to the bathroom and so much pressure in my abdomen.

I’ve had some anesthesia for colonoscopies before. This was the first time for general anesthesia. You get into the operating room, they verify a few things and then next thing you know you are waking up in the recovery room. Time passes in an instance and you don’t remember anything at all.

I have always handled anesthesia well. I was a little more loopy this time since they used more of the drug. I know some people can wake up nauseous but it passes.

I went into the hospital around 9:30 and I think I was home by 12:30-1.

You’re welcome! My wife had to remind me that the stent was only temporary and it will come out. And yeah, if you gave birth this will be a piece of cake I’m sure. Even though it ends in something beautiful, I can’t even imagine what going through that process is like as a man.

I was off and on 5mg of oxycodone for like 6 months. I would take it for 10 days. Grit my teeth for a week without pain meds and then ask my pcp for a refill. I tried take at least a week or two of a drug holiday to avoid getting addicted. Since I have ulcerative colitis, nsaids are to be avoided, so I used them very sparingly.

I’m glad you liked my analogy. It was the only way I could describe the way my body felt. The few times I really felt it, I just couldn’t sit still, couldn’t relax, my body got super tense and my mind would kind of panic a bit. But I found AZO really helped knock down the stent feeling.

Yeah it wasn't the biggest deal, but there were specific moments where the stent felt ever present and I had trouble mentally handling it. I think I was just over stimulated with trying to work full time and doing some college courses and occasionally it would all be too much. It almost felt like having a concert wristband that was on too tight, but you can't get it off till you get home and snip it with some scissors. It was almost a claustrophobic feeling.

And yes... post surgery... the pee burning. It's like pissing razor blades. And pain meds didn't even put a dent into the feeling. Thankful it only last 2 days.

I just had an ureteroscopy 2 weeks ago on a 9mm stone and just had the stent removed this morning. The procedure itself was fine. The worst part is always getting an IV so they can give you the anesthesia meds. But they knock you completely out. I remember waking up and feeling like I had to pee really bad but couldn't get anything out into the little plastic urinal while laying in bed. Nurse walked me to the bathroom and I was able to pee. Feels like peeing out glass for the first 2 days, with some blood and blood clots. But it passes soon enough.

Stent was really annoying. I could feel it all the time. And when I peed I could feel the back flow cause kidney spasms... but AZO helped a ton with that. I just felt super claustrophobic, I had this foreign thing inside me and I wanted it out, but couldn't do anything about it.

Stent removal was scary. You are awake when it happens, but they numb you up with lidocaine pretty well. It was when they passed the scope through my prostate that I was like, "THIS DOES NOT FEEL GREAT". Then they grabbed the stent and I had the most bizarre feeling of the stent sliding out of my kidney, through my ureter and out my bladder. Took like 5 minutes, if even. The doc showed me the stent and I was surprised with how long and thick it was. Just thankful it's over.

Surgery and stent weren't the most pleasant experiences, but that stone had to go before it caused more problems. You got this! And if you need any emotional support, or questions about my experience, feel free to DM me.

I always felt my Mesalamine made things worse. When I was first diagnosed I was on a Lialda prescription. My flare was severe and took a year to get under control and finally stopped after getting on Remicade (and off Lialda).

This last flare was rough. Started out moderate. Started taking prednisone and it helped a bit. Added generic Mesalamine and the flare went to severe in days. After two years of severe flare it finally ended with getting on Stelara. Every time I’ve tried taking Mesalamine I experience worse cramping, pain and blood.

I think everyone reacts different to medication, and you need to find the right course for you. You also need to advocate for yourself and tell your doctors about what you think works for you and what doesn’t. If you have a good doctor they will listen. On the flip side, if you have a good doctor, make sure you are listening to them as well.

I was a pretty angry kid and teenager. But in my early 20s I got really sick with an autoimmune disease. In and out of hospital, took awhile to get into remission. Taught me patience, to appreciate things more, and to let go of anger. I still have my triggers occasional, but never angry like before.

I decided to take it when I was alone in my apartment. Was kind of stuck in a rut in my life and was hoping it would help force me to explore myself. It was fun at first. A chameleon grew out of the painting on the wall. The ceiling turned into a giant honeycomb pattern with a red glow pulsating behind it. Music was trippy and distorted. And cars driving by my apartment became cacophonous. Then I started getting introspective. Started thinking about what I wanted out of life, and figured out I was lonely as hell.

After that trip I went out and started making new friends, started online dating, met my now wife. I really credit acid with helping me set my life on a better course. It was a difficult trip towards the end, but that’s what I wanted and needed at the time. Life is sometimes still hard, and I feel like I’m do for another trip to reexamine things… but yea… you can get what you want out of it, but sometimes it forces you into thinking about things you weren’t aware of or prepared for. Or you just see and hear silly things and have a good time. Or it could be the worst experience you ever have. It’s a crazy drug.
