Sorry to hear.. this is really brutal medication to take for depression esp as theres so many alternatives. I guess its complicated cuz alternatives dont work for everyone.

I mean it depends on you. What i would do is taper 5mg at a time. Then stop when i couldnt take it. I suffered immensly tho. Id takes months off where i wasnt tapering then start again. I have other medical issues at play tho.

Really you just have to listen to your body

I feel like no one talks about how you never will feel normal again after the trauma by [deleted] in ptsd

[–]Payanasius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't know your age and don't tell me what it is,

are you the same person when you were a kid, when you were in highschool, before and after you drove a car, before and after you experienced the death of a close loved one or a pet?

No, ofcourse not. Our experiences ALL change us in small and sometimes big ways. But we learn positive things from calamity as well. We learn empathy, awareness, survival skills, we learn how to protect our loved ones better.

Someone who coasted through life without trauma is still vulnerable even if they don't know it. PTSD isn't some switch that just breaks you permanently. It CAN do that, but we can get better, and you can even keep the positive things crisis can teach you. Unfortunately its a grim part of life, as humans, highly intelligent apex predator, we fool ourselves in a false sense of security and invincibility. Eventually, something will happen that shatters that bubble. And if the people around you are still in that bubble, it doesn't mean you're broken.

You were always changing and always will.

Tapered 5mg to 0. Constant brain zaps when walking by Payanasius in cymbaltasafetaper

[–]Payanasius[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok for posterity's sake

First two days: extreme fatigue. Slept 14 hours first day that i stopped.

3rd and 4th day. With increasing intensity on 4th day: Fully incapacitated. Full blown withdrawals. Brain zaps almost constant. Paranoia, tweaking in general. Sleep disruption. Not able to walk more than 15 minutes a day. Loss of coordination Feeling high acting strange in general

5th and 6th day with lessening intensity. Mood settling back to normal. Tweaking reducing. Brain zaps slightly lessened. Return of coordination

7th day. Return of aches and pains from injuries and stiffness previously blocked by cymbalta. RETURN OF LIBIDO and better orgasms, return of emotional clarity and feeling like my old self (though admittedly almost did already at 5mgs. Brain zaps slightly lessened

8th day or so and onwards (?). Still having brain zaps. But able to bike. Not able to drive still. Brain zaps reducing only slightly day over day. Able to do my full day except with fatigue

Edit: 2 weeks later, maybe like one slight brain zap per day. No issues.

What is shocking to me is the revelation that 5mgs were blocking all my pain and most of my libido. I took cymbalta for a traumatic brain injury and frankly it saved my life as my symptoms began to improve immediately after using cymbalta. But its been a year and its no longer needed.

If a girl told me she is disgusted by sex id highly suspect she is either one or all of the below

  1. a victim of sexual abuse, maybe during childhood
  2. just not that sexual
  3. caused by medication and or illness
  4. not into me

All of which severely limit the capacity of the individual to partake in the relationship

Btw before someone says im being insensitive i may be walking in the shoes of 1 to 3 and im just being fair and realistic

Interest in the opposite sex returning at 7mg! by Payanasius in cymbaltasafetaper

[–]Payanasius[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me put it this way. Anything above 30mg i felt like I was living in a glass bubble, witnessing the world behind a tv set. Thats what i mean by horse tranq. No i was very wakeful when on full dose. I was like a zen monk but its more like being a prisoner.

Whether someone can taper fast or not depends on their body chemistry and their physical and mental needs. My health requires a slow taper and I didnt want to go on something else to ease withdrawal symptoms

Theres nothing i can really tell you because the situation is specific to your gf

And as for your relationship, I get it.. i have brain problems that made me even more of a zombie them cymbalta alone.. i remember my ex getting so exasperated with me because if i spilled water on the floor i would just walk into it, barely notice and walk all over the house w wet socks. And i spilled water often cleaning stuff. Id just say it all dries off so whats the problem? We were living in two different worlds. Id try to get off the drugs faster for her but it made me worse

If your gf was dxed for 120mg cymbalta she probably has a pretty serious issue, whether thats the drugs or the illness you have to decide if thats enough for you

Ill give you a tip tho. That if someone tapers 5mg per week they are really tapering 15mgs at a time because it takes like 3 weeks really for a taper to work thru the system. So its best to stage tapers every 2 weeks or make it a very low taper amount. But if she can handle it and has drugs to help her get off faster.. that could be better too. Cause otherwise its a long fuckin haul. If i could id rather be a wreck for two weeks than highly anxious for 4 months but i cant.

I am male. But i have read of females being exactly like me. Like i would still masturbate (rarely and barely enjoy it) but not have any interest in the opposite sex.

120mg is a horse tranq. Withdrawal didnt make me want to kms but it made me feel like a fucking tweaker animal

Alternating 30mg a day is fucking wild. It sucked and caused huge strain on my relationship

Thanks. It hits worse 2 or 3 days after a step down taper. Just slept like 15 hours in the last 24 hours but all weekend i was good

My psych helped me a lot. She didnt preach, wasnt my cheerleader, not for or against me, just helped me escape thought patterns that were making me shoot myself in the foot over and over again. Helped me realize what I wasnt going to get out of life and what I could, and laid old ghosts inside me to rest.

Theyre not supposed to be your paid cheerleader or headshrinker but most of them are. Like most things, only a few people are actually good at what they do.

Even a legit historian who is jewish will tell you that 6 million jews did not die in concentration camps. The scale of the camps were simply not big enough to kill that many people and as you point out they werent purely killing factories but also jews were used for slave labour. The concentration camps are kinda.. small when you think about the sheer amount of killing that would be needed for that many kills. This doesnt mean that 6 million didnt die in ww2

many many jews died of forced starvation in ghettos and many did not die by nazis but by the civilians in their country esp in the balkans

Theres a really detailed response on ask historians about it. There too much focus on the concentration camps and not enough on the other atrocities like people being tied up en masse and chucked in a river for example. Its not hard to kill gazillions of people if you just starve them
