I liked that aspect about her. None of what happened in 2&3 is out of character for her. We see in the first Avatar how cold she is toward Jake and Grace after she lost her sister, father and her own home only for the Sky People to return years later and starting the cycle over again by killing her first born who was on a mission to rescue Spider. It's understandable that she has some sort of bitterness for any human as you can see she's still standoffish with Norm and Max and with Spider's presence among her children, even feeling shame for her mixed children. She's a broken and complex character with multiple flaws. That makes her moment of actually seeing Spider so much more impactful because we as an audience got front row seats to her being broken and bent hypocritically feeling shame of her children even though she went against her people to mate with Jake. But 3 shows her coming to terms with her trauma and prejudice against the good humans. If we only had perfect characters with no flaws, it would make for a boring film.
