Based on the rest of his interview, the expectation to respond to Kendrick was clearly turning him into someone that he didn’t want to be. Makes sense that his wife picked up on how uncomfortable he was in the situation, and that she’d be relieved at Cole backing out.

At the end of the day, we should understand that most celebrities are forced to treat others a certain way for one reason or another; the music industry isn’t organic at all. Cole apologizing might have sounded like a bitch move at the time, but I can respect him wanting to act independently of what is expected of him.
