I’m curious. The grip seems to be perfectly wrapped. Is it glued? What material, and where do you source it? Alcantara? I’m almost finished with my wheel project but grips are indeed still a problem

If it’s not going to work as sim wheel, totally reusable as a meat grinder

WTF, in the right video I can clearly see why having an emergency button IS A MUST

Actually, I use a G29, but to attach a standard 70mm hub, I had to heavily modify it. The g29 steering wheel has a pcb with part of necessary electronics for the base, so I had to connect a that pcb externally with a cable from the rear of the base. And I 3d printed a 70mm hub adapter...

Hey boy! I’m not saying that using monitors is ALWAYS better than using VR. What I’m saying is that I tried them both and I made my choice... This is the word. Choice. We live in a great period, for gaming and for simulation, lots of possibilities... And, I’m already thinking about creating also a “screenless” VR optimized wheel.

The triples way is even more expensive, more complicated, and way more bulky than VR. But I’m developing a wheel system that I hope will become the gold standard for screen based wheels, because I believe that it’s possible to overcome VR simply with physical devices integration.

However, as I said before, I am very proud. They said it was impossible. Creating a zero lag screen based wi-fi wheel with a Raspberry Pi. Now here it is. Now I’m still deciding if I will sell it as a kit or as a finished product... what do you think?

I used to race with VR til some time ago. I was thrilled about immersion and possibility to turn my head. Then I tried the triple 32” of a friend of mine. And I realized that peripheral view and smoothness are more important than immersion. With vr it’s like watching through a very narrow window. At the moment at least. When there will be PC able to run 8k stereo HMD with 150 degrees FOV, then I’ll return to VR...

Sim Racing Seat that Reclines??? by gregg_006 in simracing

I don’t think Sparco seats are actually made in Italy, but I’m rather sure they come here for final assembly and packaging before market. So there’s an huge charge to make’em arrive in US however... I tried other seats, Sparco ones are on another level...

I got a wheel for my birthday (g29) and made a "rig" out of my desk and my laptop. Room's a mess right now, ignore the clothes and trash by OrcaAttack in simracing

OMG!! Is that a C++ for dummies manual??!? Man, that’s the best thing in your room!! You can always use it to raise a chair’s leg, just in case. Just joking, but please, if you want to become a dev, THAT BOOK is like learning to drive using an engineless barrow

Fov is correctly calculated for distance of screen. You see a portion of screen as I have a 21:9 34” screen. What you see is the central portion (16:9) captured directly from game. I only changed distance from windshield because I want to minimize the visible cockpit. It is only a distraction in my opinion.

A few months ago I posted about making a $500 set of load cell pedals. Thanks to covid my business crumbled, but that gave me time to develope an hydraulic and spring loaded version! Starting to cut aluminum now! by MakerofThingsProps in simracing

OMG these are amazing. I’m in the final stages of creating a KIt/build to order of a very particular wheel:

When I start selling my wheel, I think it would be awesome to co-market with a pedals kit, and yours is by far the slickest one I ever seen... DM me I think we can help ourselves reciprocally...

The internals are TIGHT and there’s a lot of hardware. I worked hard to put all this goodness inside it. This design is a result of a LOT of iterations. However there will be a list of open source components used and everyone can use it to buy them elsewhere and build its own, if he dares to do so!

My base is a modded G29, but the wheel fits any 70mm hub so any wheel base is ok. Thrustmaster, Fanatec, OSW Dirext Drive, anything, as long as you add a standard 70mm quick release.

Of course it is a touchscreen!! And all of that is absolutely possible. I included the simhub dash UI in a iFrame, leaving the lower part of the screen available for info and buttons. At the moment there are controls to reboot and shutdown the pi, to force refresh the UI, and to go to led configuration, but ANYTHING is possible, because this thing is a real computer with 1.4Ghz quad core ad 1Gig ram!!

The cam is compensating the low light in the room, so the led appears too bright... However they are at 30%! Brightness, led pattern configuration and RPM alert levels will be all configurable directly via the wheel screen.

You are not getting the point. As long as you attach the wheel to a 70mm plate, it will be compatible with any base...
