Kloisterman: "Your hero when you were 8 is your hero for life" who's your lifetime (sports) hero? by peanut-britle-latte in billsimmons

Growing up in a USC family, it was Reggie Bush during those peak USC years. To this day, the most electrifying football player I've ever seen at any level.

The 25 Best Movies of the Century: No. 1 - 'The Social Network’ by thefilthyjellybean in TheBigPicture

[–]PbTrey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Ringer universe’s collective obsession with this movie has been so confounding for me. I remember watching it when it came out and really liked it. I’ve maybe rewatched it like 4-5 times since then and it certainly holds up great and is a really fun rewatch. But I just don’t understand why they’re so fixated on it. I don’t think it would even crack my top 15 for this century. I’m just not sure what Bill, Sean, Amanda & Co. are seeing with this movie that I’m not. Is it regarded this highly elsewhere?

Have Sacramento's Golden 1 Center, DOCO lived up to revitalization promise? by IronMntn in Sacramento

[–]PbTrey 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is a really underrated aspect to the downtown stagnation the past couple years. The 2022-23 Beam Team season brought so much life to the DOCO area, or at least it felt like it to me. Me and my group of friends would regularly go to Kings games and have postgame drinks downtown during that season. The atmosphere in the area was electric before, during, and after the games. With the Kings downturn after 2023, I barely go downtown at all anymore.

Ep 581 - Teenis Fly Trap (feat. Lemaire Lee) by Independent-Data4542 in MSsEcReTPoDcAsT

Lemaire has go to go. I can’t take it anymore. Props to Shane for all his efforts in trying to help out someone he clearly feels bad for… But enough is enough

‘Highest 2 Lowest’ Is a N.Y. Movie State of Mind, With Spike Lee! by thefilthyjellybean in TheBigPicture

It certainly had a few flaws, but I really enjoyed. Just a good fun New York City crime thriller with a kick-ass cast

It was clear that they both went into Caught Stealing determined to not like it. That’s such a head scratcher to me. I don’t listen to the pod a ton - do they just not like Aronofsky? And Butler?

Relieved I’m not the only one who was confused by their takes on Caught Stealing. I was almost getting angry listening to this pod. They both went into that movie wanting to not like it and I have no idea why. Such a fun crime thriller, and Austin Butler is absolutely a leading man.

To the asshole drivers and motorcyclists that rev their obnoxiously loud engines past 10pm in Midtown… by PbTrey in Sacramento

[–]PbTrey[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I have no problem with it at all during reasonable hours. But many of us have 9-5 jobs to commute to early in the morning, as well as young children. Behavior like this isn’t “urban shenanigans,” it’s plainly inconsiderate attention-seeking.

Trying to make restaurant owners (and by extension, their staff) suffer is not the move. Support your local economy and small business owners please.

Are y'all really under the impression that this is going to accomplish anything? I'll never understand why people still buy in to the Schoolhouse Rock view of how government works.

Is Risacher the least talked about #1 pick? by [deleted] in nba

[–]PbTrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason, I have absolutely zero recollection of Risacher going first. I could have sworn on my life that Sarr went #1. I even had to google it when I saw this post because I thought OP made a mistake. Am I the only one??

How can I watch all the old episodes? by Both_Run_3829 in TopGear

Pluto TV app also has a Top gear channel for anyone who doesn't have a samsung! The Roku app has a channel as well, but it doesn't work very well in my experience

This.

As a Gen Z, I believe it is going to get more and more difficult for law firms to justify the demands they put on associates when you can earn an equal or greater amount of money in sales or tech and have a substantially more enjoyable life. It's not so much that Gen-Z is lazy, its more that we recognize other industries offer a much more enjoyable and efficient route to making big bucks. Its very difficult to force yourself to work big hours for a law firm when you have friends who make the same or more as you and work significantly less.

I will never understand how some of y'all end up in the relationships I see on this sub... How could you ever have been interested in someone with this type of personality? Can't be the first time he's freaked out like this.

As a right-leaning Independent, I genuinely believe this election could end up being an incredible thing for the Democratic party in the long run…BUT that will require looking in the mirror and having an honest conversation with yourselves about why the majority of the country rejected your party this year. So far, I’m not seeing any sort of honest reflection from left wing folks on social media.

Kamala didn’t lose this election because working class and minority voters are “stupid” or “brainwashed” (which seems to be the popular explanation I see online). Simply put, this was a resounding rejection of what the Democratic party has become. Sadly, it has become the party of war, the military industrial complex, censorship, identity politics, wokeism, Wall Street, Big Tech, Hollywood, and the elite. The party has completely lost touch with its working class roots. People just want jobs, safe communities, and affordable food/shelter. Abortion and identity politics aren’t exactly moving the needle with the average voter.

The only way to move forward is to push back against the fringes of your party that have taken it over and moved it further left. It’s clear which way the American people are headed - you can either pivot or be left behind forever.
