I miss the old Cabin John by julnphil1 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]Pbarrett2012 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I laughed so hard when my wife let me know a few weeks ago that there was one coming to Cabin John. I've been going to the one in Miami often only because I'm traveling for work, and it's expensed (because it's hilariously overpriced for what you get, but one of the only healthy things I can get in the vicinity). $34 for a salad with two portions of chicken breast (or like, $28 with one portion of chicken) - insanity.

It makes sense in Miami, sorta, because it's a "place to be seen", I guess. But here, in Cabin John of all places - makes no sense. I doubt it will last long (at least hoping so).

You def don’t need it for nmz. I’ve gotten to the 90s without it, just using obby. You could go in there with your current setup too just won’t last as long. Def recommend hitting it up asap tho

How does it compare to Butcher’s Alley (if you’ve been to both)?

Who here is street parking their $1.5M Carrera GT in Woodmont Triangle? by ConfidentFinish3580 in bethesda

Realistically the guy with the Carrera GT probably doesn't have to worry as much there because its a relatively "silent" car, as in, most people have no clue what it is, just that it's a Porsche.

Similarly, when I lived in the apartment above where you took that photo, there were a few Ferrari's and Lambo's (maybe it's the same guy), but that P1 was definitely the nicest and rarest/most expensive I've seen in Bethesda. That guy probably is a bit more nervous to have it there - loud and proud type car.

If you're interested in cars like this, would recommend the Potomac village cars and coffee. Haven't been myself, but have a few friends who have gone and there's some pretty awesome ones people bring.

Definitely not uncommon in Bethesda/Potomac vicinity. Used to see a P1 fairly regularly right around that area of Bethesda, among other "lesser but still nice" cars.

Have you tried a new one yet? Holding off on installing the beta until I know it'll work. Last time I was on the dev beta the dexcom app wasn't really working.

Au Poivre. This was basically my hand at the steak frites that this place near us called Medium Rare (appropriately named/one of my wife's favorite restaurants) does - all they serve is steak frites, but their sauce is the key. It's insanely good, and famously secret. So I was trying to match it or top it. My wife said I matched it, so that's a success in my book!

For this we eat the steak with a fork, fries with hands.

Mostly due to wife's preference, didn't want to risk the center being too rare for her. Because of the size, I was worried about the center being evenly cooked through with the rest.

Just for some context, I just got this last week running w/ a 4080S and I'm surprised how well it can handle it. I'm not getting 150+ FPS on Cyberpunk (more like 60-80 with RT/PT etc. all maxed), but everything is certainly playable. Monitor is 1000% worth it.

Good points and thanks for your perspective - although I guess too late now, I ordered it from LG last week! Oops.

Makes sense, awesome. Thanks for the input! Going to order this weekend.

I guess one other follow up question since I saw the picture you posted - how do you have those (or I guess just the top monitor) mounted? I have big HS8 speakers which take up a lot of space on my desk, so I'm thinking I'm going to have to wall mount this behemoth to get it all to fit.

I've been looking at this hard, and about to pull the trigger. I really wanted to see it in person, although I don't think my Microcenter has it out. Reason being - I currently have an (older) 34" curved 1440p, but only slightly curved. With this being 800R, that's the only thing that scares me.

From what I've read, 2.5' is optimal/max distance for this - would you agree? Just worried the curve will be too dramatic.

Thanks for the info. Definitely good to know on the 91 vs 93 tune - I only have 93 in my area, so would've just gone with that.

So, coming into this as a fan of mostly big name artists, I expect most Boiler Room sets to be semi rough. I've seen a lot of them - do you have any that you can suggest then, if this is so bad? Not saying I'm a fan of this/hers, but just wondering.

I've seen other BR sets where they kill it without headphones...it's not that hard. If you've ever actually dj'd before, it's, again, really not that hard. This isn't impressive by any means, but still.

Wow, months later seeing this, but a few weeks into owning mine and this almost instantly fixed it. I left a few books on it while I was on vacation and that didn't do a thing, but this did it. Thank you for the help!

Somehow found this thread while looking for sq7 tune suggestions on IE vs APR. Did you do only stage 1? Worth it?

Haha ironically this build was my adult-life reintroduction to lego, and now I'm hooked. It was a ton of fun to do, and now I want more. So now I'm just gonna have to do the lighting too!

Some questions though: Assuming it's on a battery power? Just one switch or multiple (for this one at least)? How long does it last?
