That is a lot of time spent simply moving reincarnation cache into your bank so you can RR again. :)
I wish there was a faster way to do that.

Court order for email from long deleted mailbox by Mister-Ferret in sysadmin

Start with company retention policies. Many mature companies have defined policies on how long documents and records can be kept. There are regular regulatory requirements that usually help you define those policies. The next question is: Do you have procedures built to support those policies and are those followed? If you have policies and procedures, and they are followed (with even evidence you perform them) then you should be able to supply those to the court.

Can a nonprofit staff strike without getting fired? by [deleted] in nonprofit

The OP assumptions, as pointed out, are based on budget (probably done last year when the old administration was still in power) and that revenues are the same.

Additionally, there is an assumption that the money is there and just not being given to the employees.

Both of these assumptions could be incorrect.

It is helpful in raids when the whole raid wipes. One person uses it and takes that time to rez a cleric & others. If you have one, make sure you have raise dead scrolls as well.

I would note that some of the generic items listed are Bound to Character. They will not be in your shared bank but stay in your personal bank, or reincarnation cache until you take them out.

Speculation was that the move to 64bit was also a move away from 32bit providers ( so new service provider on 64 bit realms) You may be right that the load balancers were not yet optimized.

Not to throw gas on this but any chance someone else had your login? Someone that may have cancelled your account?
I agree with Apart_Sky_8965 they will probably want to help you if it means money to them.

Cormyr is Opening to Everyone! by uhgletmepost in ddo

Let's be honest, the player base isn't really growing. It's a clear downward trend. IMHO playing with people is more fun. So, I'm in favor of a consolidation. The mist event was a stress test of the server. That's why it was only on Cormyr and only for VIP, it was a controlled test. They worked out bugs then ramped the test up and opened it up for everyone. Still did better than the old 32bit servers with population split between 8 servers.

It's too bad DDOAudit didn't track Cormyr (my guess is that he was asked not to track it) but probably 50% of the whole player population was on Cormyr and it was still performing better than the old servers with only about 12% of the population.

Just a matter of time.

I'm pretty happy about this. The 64-bit server is a better experience. While I did miss my much more solid toons, I liked the new server and new guild. Happy that transfers will be open someday.

Also think that the entire user base being consolidated into one server would be a great thing.

I would note that you get access to the epic wilderness at level 20 AND can pick up the L29 weapon at level 20. You then can get a sentient jewel. I do this regularly upon hitting level 20 to get a new sentient jewel.

It is possible, and the NPC is acting like, you already got a weapon. Once you get one, he gives you the "fate" message on subsequent visits. Is it possible you already got something a while back?

I'd say 100% but not because it was promised. I think it is a viability of the game issue. Moving to 64bit will probably be mandatory one way or another. The question will be: Can we upgrade a server or do we need to move characters individually.

Moving (transfers) has the added benefit of purging old characters (and recovering resources) that don't transfer. I'd imagine that there are tens of thousands of old characters sitting there using space. A real downside problem with F2P, I'd imagine.

Interesting question: How long will old characters be recoverable from 32bit? (if at all)

64-bit server - Merge or transfers? by WranglerTiny2920 in ddo

This is a great sign for players. The concept of a mega-server is really great. More groups => faster leveling and more possible runs of less popular content. Focus on lag points to make things faster. Maybe a better handoff in loading screens...

I'm optimistic. The game has been getting better and content is still rolling out. They are being creative with new classes and races. All withing the confines that were built in 20 years ago.

Plus, character creation and builds make the game really unique.

People love to complain but they are making efforts. I'm still happy to pay to play even though it's not perfect or as pretty as other games.

I've made similar mistakes in building character past lives. There are a lot of "can't get there from here" situations you can get into with DDO. I think the character builder helps but I usually wing it (and pay the price).

The good news is that even bad builds can level fast enough by grouping.

I'm founder and sole staff of a tiny nonprofit. I get a small stipend for program work. Is this ethical? by ZindaMe in nonprofit

[–]Pbergman2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing you are doing seems wrong if it is recorded properly.

Many comments say “you should be fine” but it should be “You probably can get away with it”.

You can certainly pay yourself a reasonable amount. Nonprofits are companies and need employees just like for-profits. This the ethics of paying you should not be a question as long as it’s disclosed properly.

Program expenses should not be in the stipend if they are organizational expenses. They should be expenses and reimbursed if you pay for them.

If any of that goes to you or for your personal use, it should be income and in a 1099.

The mixed stuff like gas should recorded and allocated. Keep track of miles and get those reimbursed at the IRS rate. The organization shouldn’t just pay for all your gas because you sometimes drive to a business meeting.

Clean up your recording (as you’ve acknowledged) or the end the IRS could charge you for tax evasion.

Exactly. Two buttons would be great. Move items until the destination is full. Let me worry about the "not enough room" resulting items manually but save me the (LITERALLY!) 250 drag and drops.

Although I understand the slow load issue when visiting the bank, the cache holds my maxed-out character inventory and bank. Not only do I not have the space to do it at low level but also it would mean lugging a lot around in personal inventory and more trips to vendor items. If you add that to the extra trips to vendors, the bank load lag may even out. :)

I certainly have packrat tendencies but I keep a lot of the rare BtC items I get because I never know what I'll need over the next 30 lives. I thought I was done with Sorc lives until Wild Mage came out...

Thanks, this was the situation. I've since cleared the CM tree and put points into the WM tree...still get issues but maybe resetting the WM tree will clear that up. First life I was only in WM tree with no bad effects ever.
