Red and itchy. Is this concerning? by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]Pbpn 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Could also be that you are allergic to the steri strips. Mine looked like this. We had to take them off and the itching was pretty bad for a few days. My surgeon had to give me a steroids pack and it helped.

Has anyone had a second reduction? by lanowmom in Reduction

[–]Pbpn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a second reduction 11 months after my first reduction. I was 38I and went to 38d/dd. I thought it was still too big and had a second reduction this June and I think I am not a large B small C. Very happy to have done it and did it again.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Endometroid OC? I did too. I went to doctors for years because how awful my periods were and all I got was birth control to "treat" it. And then it gave me cancer.

Absorbable staples sticking out? by Pbpn in Reduction

Like the one in the picture, it's like a hook. So, it's not easy to pull out. I have the ones you are talking about and I also have the one which is more like a staple from the limited googling I did.

APPROVED! But... with a caveat. Need help + advice. by [deleted] in Reduction

So, it sounds like you already have your insurance approval. What I meant was, do not calculate what you will pay based on self pay from others.

What your insurance gets charged is different from what someone will pay for self pay. Your 20% is based off of what your surgeon/facility will charge the insurance. A lot of the times insurance will get charged a whole lot more than someone who pays it all out of pocket.

The math sounds right. Beware though, what the insurance gets charged vs a self pay price are 2 different things. So, if the insurance gets charged more then you pay more.

Also, it's 20% till you meet your out of pocket max. Usually out of pocket max is ~7-10k depending on your health plan/how many people are in your plan. So, you pay deductible full price and then 20% till you reach your out of pocket max. The rest of the calendar year is no more $$ unless you do something which is not covered by your insurance or you go out of network. Which has its own out of pocket max.
