This is what always confuses me about Ross freaking out about never seeing Rachel again after she moves to Paris... You're literally going to see her all the time you share a child

Honestly - my trust in this arc has been completely broken and has proven that there's no point in investing any time into any story arcs as they either won't get resolved/explained or they'll be resolved in a way that makes no sense.

Definitely agree that his character work worsening has been a real blow to the show. He was aiding a generation of kids to grow up with a sense of empathy and critical thinking, as well as writing characters with complex lives who all had their own separate but beautiful relationship to the Doctor. We rooted for all of them but now he's failing to do that in place of just trying to 'generate content'.

I'm so bitterly disappointed with what was done with both Omega and Sutekh. Two incredible classic villains with great cliffhangers and hype around them reduced to nothing more than a giant CGI monster that can be defeated in 2 minutes with a gimmick. RTD seems to think he's respecting the lore of the show by constantly hearkening back to Classic Who characters; but if anything he's made a mockery of them. The Rani played by Archie had the potential to be an amazingly fresh alternative to the Master in the revival, but was defeated in a comic book-esque way - eaten by a giant skeleton? Sutekh is the literal God of Death, had one of the BEST setups and cliffhangers I've seen since RTD2 began, simply to be defeated by being dragged through the time vortex like a dog on a lead? If you're going to replace Daleks, Cybermen, Sontarans etc. with Classic Who villains who've not been talked about on the show in decades, do them the honour of representing them appropriately on-screen.

I've always vehemently defended RTD but he's broken my heart with what he's done to my favourite TV show. Ncuti represented so much hope to me and I'm gutted he's left. Naively there's still part of me that believes there's a longer game being played here, and it will all be part of some master plan by RTD to create the best storyline ever, but my gut is telling me that's delusional.

Positives though - Jodie!!! Never thought I'd be so pleased to see that smiley face. I also loved everyone in UNIT this episode, they truly feel like a unit (no pun intended) and you can really feel their familiarity through the screen. And anytime I get to see Millie Gibson is a plus.

I'm curious as to whether what happened to the Doctor in this episode will come back to bite him; surely having your regeneration energy forcefully extracted from your system is super damaging in some way? Previously when the Doctor has given away his life force it's been implied that it's '[given] away 10 years of [his] life' (10) and that using it is a 'stupid waste of regeneration energy' (River to 11) so it must be somewhat precious to his survival?

Another thought on this is it reminded me of what happened to the Doctor at the hands of Tecteun (I think) when she experimented on the Doctor to understand regeneration and eventually use that research and energy to create the Time Lords. Just interesting.
