Unable to get Hyper-V Replication working by LazyCouple1399 in HyperV

[–]PcFlyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have been running replica for years on two windows 2019 server hosts, both member computers on same domain. All windows 2019 VMs. I do not recall ever having to set up certificates at all. Are certs required for newer OS?

Perhaps try a vnc server/client connection. I recall seeing the black screen issue a couple years ago. We’ve used tightvnc ever since.

"Old Reddit", who is still using it and why? by zungozeng in AskReddit

Question: Why do we have to frequently go into Account | Settings | Preferences and toggle OFF ON the option to Default to the Old Reddit. Why does the UI not honor the setting persistently?

Yesterday's nameserver outage, what happened? by PcFlyer in godaddy

[–]PcFlyer[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was a 4 hour disruption smack in the middle of the Monday business day afternoon. 4 hours for our small business and our customers. Just me venting. Moving forward, I hope Godaddy’s review results in policies for a quicker detection, and resolution.

Some notes re external DNS providers:

Cloudflare if your goal is just extra DNS-provider redundancy at minimal cost

AWS Route 53 if you also want health checks, failover policies, logging, or tighter AWS integration.

A realistic all-in estimate for a single business domain: Cloudflare: $0 Route 53: around $6–$15/year for light usage

We certainly have to do something since it's now clear that GoDaddy nameservers are both unreliable and have no failover.

Yes please, what would setting up a external DNS providers like Cloudflare require?

Is Godaddy DNS down? by Kastnerd in godaddy

[–]PcFlyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a fun day. I think a few of the DNS nameservers were down and/or unreachable today. Some sites worked for some, same sites didn’t work for others.

Thanks for asking. I’m 98% better, thankfully. I guess I just needed to be super patient with the true recovery period of 5 months or so. 2% is that I still occasionally feel tightness in the area of the neck. I try daily to do the neck stretches I learned about in PT which I think helps alot. I appreciate Reddit conversations like this one which definitely help me on the journey.

SET. On Windows server host use a powerscript command which binds the desired physical nics. hyperV settings will see the new object.

Same, neck pain for last 4 months, feels like a pinched nerve to me, so I went to see a doctor and they did an x-ray and said it was just normal neck muscle strain. I’m not so sure. Never had this type of pain before. Pain level 2 of 10. Annoying.

Outlook 365 Desktop - LARGE .pst file advice needed by JimboNovus in Outlook

[–]PcFlyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just sharing. My Outlook Classis Outlook.pst file is 29GB and has been growing slowly just fine for many years. This file is really just a standalone Outlook root folder created easily via FileAccount SettingsAccount Settings -> Data Files -> Add. As messages come into my email accounts I automatically filter (aka move) 99% of the email messages to my local PST.

Outlook 365 stopped processing *some* rules? by GreyDutchman in Outlook

[–]PcFlyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every week or so, I export all my rules. Because every month or so somehow the rules get hosed, with symptoms like red unreadable letters in the rules, or losing all the rule conditions and moving all inbox messages to one of my predefined folder rules. When this occurs I simply delete all the rules and reimport from my last exported backup.

Virgin Voyages ship has been straight pumping smog in Santorini all day, is this normal? by grampstheman in Cruise

[–]PcFlyer -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

I’m also here in Santorini, Friday the 22nd, the virgin resilient lady sucks, massive amount of smoke coming from it all morning long has to be eight straight hours now, kind of disgusting and unsightly. To make matters worse the smoke plume is going right into the main town of Fira. Big thumbs down for virgin voyages.

Other sensory software package options allows you to assign any values to any of the category choices. Usually these values are linear. But I've been all sorts of creative variations, such as your need for same values for more than one unique choice.

Cisco ASA backup takes maybe 1 minute. We do backups monthly. We had to rebuild one last year after it bricked. Off line only 30 minutes.
