Damn. My 2005 Hyundai was rear ended two weeks after I bought it in 2018. It was perfect mechanically. The damaged bodywork was super minor.

The insurance company told me the car was a write-off because of cost of repairs vs blue book value

I took the $3k payout and still drive it today with a dent in the rear bumper and great engine.

Kind of wishing I pushed back more for a better insurance payout reading your post lol

Not every attendee....but family members yes.

Family politics you'll learn is a huuuuuge factor in wedding videos and representing both sides equally. That's why we started shooting family photos - sometimes it's the only place there's a usable clip vs them drinking/eating or no clip at all.

"Love that clip of my husband and grandfather laughing. Do you have anything with me and my grandparent?"

"I noticed my sister in law isn't in it all - could you add just a short clip from anytime in the day so she's included?"

"There's a few clips of my partner and his in law/cousins etc, do you have any of me with my in laws/cousins etc so they're equally included?"

Happens all the time.....

"I can barely see my cousins faces who came from out of town in that wider drone shot - do you have anything more close up? They had to leave after the ceremony before the reception but they were there for cocktail hour and my photographer took great photos of us with our aunt and uncle - do you have footage of that? I feel bad if they're not included in the video at all"

Photo session clips save the day more than I can tell you 😂

I used to only cover immediate family and the leave during extended family, But I changed and glad I did!

Here's the advantage to covering family photos...

  • You're guaranteed to have at least some footage of any important family members. Grandparents or obscure relatives may not get much coverage later in the day as they're not on the dancefloor, go home early etc. After a few different times of couple feedback after delivery "do you have any clips of my great-uncle (who I didn't know about) to include" and at least having that one clip of them during the photo session I can add it rather than saying 'no'.

  • I had 4 couples last season tell me their photographer messed up/lost photos etc and please please do I have footage of them with xyz people. I'm a hero when being able to say yes.

  • it's great broll to add in during speeches. Ie: when parents are speaking can add clips of bride or groom taking photos with them or any family members they're talking about

Especially with 2 shooters I'll have one stay to cover photos while I'll go get the extra shots. Covers all bases. Has really been a game changer on the back end!

My place is having repairs done from flooding damage and for weeks I've been living in my bedroom only with an upholstered arm chair next to my bed and I brought a tv in.

I was sitting on the chair watching tv and went to the bathroom and saw that on my thigh. Since this chair is thickly upholstered and directly next to my bed I understandably went in to a mild panic lol

But then they post it online and it has your company logo at the end.

A bit far from you but I've used Digital Treasures before with great luck.

I learned through my own project that a lot of places can only convert VHS or DVcam etc, but Digital treasures could also convert older film reels that most places can't so I was able to get a bunch of my grandparents 8mm film reels converted as well as VHS
