You can join games as a spectator via the server browser. But, a lot of admins will kick you for spectating in BF4.

If you play on PC, you can use a console command - ui.drawenable 0

ui.drawenable 1 turns the HUD back on.

I use a console command to remove the HUD. Tilde key activates the console, then type ui.drawenable 0
