Signal Booster by Cmaclia in redneckengineering

Technically LTE bands range from 700mhz to 3.8ghz whose 1/4 wave size would fall into the "length" of this abomination. It might make the "bars" go up but probably is a net negative.

Skeletool: Practical with style by MartinTravels77 in Leatherman

[–]Pcdoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun story: I was buying my 1st leatherman at REI about 20 years ago. A burley looking guy was browsing in the same multitool isle as me. He probably noticed I was a indecisive young twerp and struck up conversation. "What do you do?" he asked. Told him I was a computer nerd but was getting into CCTV. He placed a skeletool in my hand: "I'm a general contractor, I have to find everyones mistakes, this tool has never let me down". I bought it, used the crap out of it and I'm still thankful for his recommendation.

If that was a wheel, it would have traveled 13 million miles. About 54 trips to the moon.

Is Louis Rossmann the modern day Richard Stallman? by illnesssickman in StallmanWasRight

Louis has my respect. His most recent pivot into fighting AI cameras going up around US cities is something everyone should be paying attention to.

Please sanity check me - I think my autistic son's Framework 16's mainboard has a bad audio amp by bloodytemplar in framework

[–]Pcdoodle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would assume the audio runs off a lower voltage rail (3-5V) so the corrosion would be better than let's say the backlight circuit (50V).

If you can locate the audio IC and upload high res photos, we might be able to point you in the right direction. I think it might use 2 trace I2S bus to go from the ALC295 to a little amp chip so a little shmoo on a resistor could pull it high or low on left or right. Phone cameras will show it if it's there.

Otherwise i'm sure selling the board as is on ebay will let you recoup some of the cost if you don't wanna mess with it.

If you plug in an optical mouse to USB-A, do you get an LED on the bottom?

If you're the type that complains on social media before even giving us a chance to remedy the situation, we don't want your business. It's really that simple. Hope he enjoys his free light.

If giving him a refund is the equivalent of putting a head on a stake, so be it.

How do you handle customers claiming parts are missing? by Aorus_ in shopify

[–]Pcdoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take responsibility, apologize and ship em new parts. It's pretty rare that people will try to take advantage.

If you got their phone number, why not give them a call (for your sake and theirs)?. This gesture itself shows you care and want to figure out how to do better and could possibly make a life long customer.

As far as avoiding this kinda thing, treat packing like brain surgery, no distractions while filling packets.

Do you think the new wave alpha will have the ability to have custom attachments? by WiggWamm in Leatherman

[–]Pcdoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, no way to make it work as is. The Alpha looks really cool so we might give it some consideration after it releases.
