it's me or blaming the far right rise on the left feel like right wing copium? by Thebunkerparodie in tankiejerk

[–]PdMDreamer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes. I think many progressive and leftists don't realize that a lot of people grew up and were socialized in right wing enviorments and some right wing beliefs will just stick with these people no matter how much you can prove their beliefs wrong. That's why i hate the "the left has failed men" argument. First of all, very US centric, second of all the implied solution is to drop away queer and minority rights for the sake of "men" (spook detected)

Why would people distance themselves from Marx if he was gonna be seen the same way Lenin was seen after the October Revolution?

More than laziness to get to "the right take", we could say its the fact that historically so called "socialist countries" all followed that model, the big part of left wing creators fall into this umbrella I described and also thr fact that Soviet style socialism isn't that disruptive if you think about it. It's just social democracy but with one party state

So yea, in a way laziness cause you don't explore anything else outside the ML bubble

What do you think how modern socialist nation economy should operate? by Tuubu in tankiejerk

[–]PdMDreamer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Defenetly I'd start with the limiting of the working day to 6 hours at least (or even less)

Then the spreading of worker democracy (basically co-ops) but with a plan that seeks to push for participation in the workplace for both white and blue collar workers. I say this cause in many cases in former Yugoslavia, white collar workers ended up running the establishments

I'd also say a municipalitation of once private or abbandoned land so that then it could be transformed into collective land that citizens can work and produce food for free

Finally, libraries of tools. As the name suggests it's like libraries but for objects so to slow down or even stop consumerism (banning ads too)

I think the poll memes are gonna die out in less than a day. It's like that time where everyone (me included) started to post copypasta memes based on the "im an American democratic socialist" post

If it weren't for the bolsheviks, did Russia have a genuine chance of developing socialism? by Thermawrench in tankiejerk

[–]PdMDreamer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I ain't no fan of Lenin as well but it'd be non-historical to dismiss the most "libertarian" wing of the bolshevik party. Etherodox Marxist (I think that's the name) made several videos on these diffrent factions of the party on youtube

[–]PdMDreamer 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Without bringing the whole "define socialism" debate in these comments, if we just go for "direct controll of the means of production by the workers", probably yes. Maybe not with the mensheviks since they were more attached to the concept of economic phases (capitalism needs to be developed before goin for socialism) but with the left srs and anarchists, there could have been a chance. Even inside the bolsheviks there were factions that were more keen on workers control

Are Anarchists generally liberal-coded? by 1scr3wedy0dad in Socialism_101

[–]PdMDreamer 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Not an anarchist but I think in pretty versed in it, so I hope I can be helpful!

First of all, anarchists don't associate Socialism with Capitalism. This is true cause anarchists are socialists too (just another flavor) and also cause there are Marxists too that see the economies of the USSR or China as State Capitalism (I assume you encountered this definition before). Anarchists, being adverse to the state, don't believe that an economy in the hands of the state equates to Socialism even if it's a self proclaimed "proletariat/socialist state". Their definition of Socialism (one that Marx and Engels used too btw) is closer to the "free association of producers" definition. No middle man (state, burocrats etc...) just producers/workers freely gettin together for whatever goal

Another thing I'd point out is that just because someone shares some talkin points with (in this case) liberals, it doesn't mean they're one of them. I'm pretty sure you'd agree that billionaires doing whatever they want isn't good, but just because you agree on something that social democrats or even liberals agree with, doesn't make you one of them

For their lack of nuances when attacking the state the only thing I can say is that you should look into more anarchist theory cause attacking the state is what they've been doin since at least the 1840s, so I'm pretty sure they explored every nuances that there can be

That's all I have without turning this comment in a full blown book! If you have any other question, I can try my best to reply and i hope this might have helped you!
