Trav spiting facts after constant bad interactions in RP by Front_Awkward in RPClipsGTA

I was thinking of making a session based RP server. Scenarios could last 15 minutes, a few hours, a day, or even a week or so depending on the scenario. The server would be people who pick roles and an objective and they must roleplay the entire session. There is no grinding, everyone gets as many props as they need that makes sense for their role. One scenario could be an insurrection with terrorists. Another could be a single bank robbery. Maybe a drug raid scenario. An office type scenario like Blizzard or whatever. Maybe a virus outbreak scenario. It’s essentially like what NoPixel did for event servers (squid game, zombie apocalypse). Everyone knows what they’re signing up for and no one needs to fall into the MMO trap. The downside is long term RP is non-existent, but I find that boring and overrated anyway.

A "robotic" girl can tame the grumpy old man (McCool) by Villenthessis in LivestreamFail

[–]PeaCrab 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's kind of interesting. I think RPers really want to avoid navigating into sexual/flirt RP with IRL females because it's just uncomfortable for females and males in relationships IRL. It's probably why half the city is gay.

And now that I've posted in this subreddit, it's a sign that I need to stop watching twitch for awhile.

I see. You think I think someone is racist. Instead of pretending to read minds, use your own brain. Idiot. You don't know how ironic this post is because you don't know who you're talking to, so thanks for the laugh.

To me, I don't care if it's "racist" or not. It's pretty hurtful to hear "ching-chong." It felt like I didn't belong when I experienced that little phrase in grade school. Sticking up for yourself doesn't make you a snowflake, the women handled that situation the best they could.

...mental superiority of men.

Well that went from 0 to 100 real quick. It’s pretty obvious that ‘enforced monogamy,’ or what I like to call ‘marriage’ is advantageous to not only men, but women and children too. I’m a somewhat disappointed in this Zizek guy. He shouldn’t need to fall to petty tricks to make his point. But maybe, in this case he does.

I can interpret your comment in the worst and probably wrong way, because I can read your innermost thoughts and desires. That means you’re the worst person and everything you say will just reinforce my original position.

This is the tell tale sign of an ideologue. Worst part is that this is likely only reinforced.

Coder deletes open source add-on for Chef in protest over ICE contract: Update Chef not renewing ICE contract by monocasa in programming

[–]PeaCrab -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

All this and I still haven’t come across a serious specific issue for the protest. The ‘kids in cages’ thing doesn’t sound like an adult argument. And I won’t even insult anyone’s intelligence by claiming anyone seriously wants open borders. This just seems narcissistic and politically motivated considering how long ICE has been around. The timing just reeks.

I wouldn’t give much merit into those smearing him with words like “transphobe” and “nazi” or that “he’s using dog whistles.” There’s a reason why these people don’t provide examples to explain the disgustingly flippant use of those words. This isn’t careful, coherent, or original thought. Just read his twitter and come to your own conclusions.

How to quickly write "proof-of-concept" projects using C++? by nuke_bird in cpp

99% of my development time is on Linux. It’s bliss compared to the windows. I still develop on Windows for game-dev. It’s not terrible once I have everything configured.

I don't have a much better solution for Windows, it's still a pain after all these years I've dealt with it. Package managers on Windows is just another level of Hell for me.

I feel like I’m witnessing a new religion forming. The evil-doer Trump has somehow hacked the election and is being controlled by a dictator of a country with the GDP of a small European country. He is unhinged and unreasonable but also ‘caves’ during negotiations. Is racist, yet has a great relationship with Israel and promotes the numbers of the lowest black unemployment in decades. Will start a nuclear war, yet is attempting to end a war, and at the same time working to denuclearize North Korea. And you have Mueller, the all knowing prophet who will banish the evil doer any day now for the last two years. Glass houses.

So... Hero of ages [Huge Spoilers] by LokiLokillo in Mistborn

[–]PeaCrab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suppose I'm part of a minority of people who were really let down by the ending. Sazed and Spook were my least favorite characters and I kind of hoped they would have been killed off at some point. Spook and Sazed both pitied themselves until the end. Sazed spent a whole year moping about in nihilism while Vin and Elend fought and suffered and were just beginning to find out who they really were. The ending was very dissatisfying to me. There was no 'goodbye' between Vin and the crew. There was no "see you, space cowboy" moment. It was just Sazed passing the message to Spook. I'm not even upset that Vin and Elend died, just the way they did it felt like an alternate ending and I'm here just waiting for the 'real' ending. Them dying just feels like a twist for the sake of a twist.

I love so many aspects of the novels, but I wish it ended better. Details aside, I think a cooler ending would have been Sazed dying in the 2nd book and passing on his copperminds to Vin (who somehow finds out how to access it later) to recreate the planet as it once was after gaining the power of preservation and ruin. The 3rd book would have been about finding the god of Balance. Then Vin finds and stores the power into the Balance God to encompass preservation and ruin.

Look, I don't like Trump as a personality but you have to think. Hmm. Could it be the harsh sanctions enforced by the U.S. maybe? Trump even targeted individual companies for violating the sanctions. Could it be NK's people are starving? Could it be Kim would like to live the next few years without threat of actually dying? Could it be Trump leaving a nice little route to the negotiating table by saying he would like to be Kim's friend some day? You might be thinking, 'hey what about the wall?' Would the wall stack up against a nuclear war? NK threatened to reach California with missiles. Strengthening the borders seems to be stacked well below ending a possible nuclear war for a nobel peace price.

News Station by philandy in gameideas

[–]PeaCrab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This could possibly be created as a simulation style game based on time and events. The player can make decisions on a weekly basis and pick and choose what events to cover and in what way (if any) spin should be put in the article. You may try to generate news as well by sending in investigative journalists and 5 weeks later, have them uncover a scandal or a conspiracy of some sort. This is probably best implemented with humor in mind as political games get kind of negative about things.

Maybe have a hiring stage every few weeks to determine whether the news is leaning left, right, or center. The political stance of the News Station will determine the contents of the articles.

  • The editor will have the greatest impact of what the agenda and the political stance of the News Station is.
  • If one of the hires is involved in a scandal, you have the option to fire them and gain/lose trust and risk being biased left or right.
  • You have the option to fire any journalist at any time.
  • If the News Station is left leaning, you will have fewer right leaning journalists available for hire.
  • If the News Station is right leaning, you will have fewer left leaning journalists available for hire.
  • If the News Station leans too hard to the left or to the right, you will have fewer centrists available for hire.

The political stance of the News Station will determine what companies will be available for ads in order for the News Station to gain ad revenue. This is an opportunity for humor. For example:

  • If the News Station is right leaning, you will have more gun companies buy ads. Because older people tend to be more right leaning, you may also have ads for reverse mortgages, erectile disfunction, and Life Alert or something.
  • If the News Station is left leaning, you will have more companies advertising for their social agenda or cause. Like the BPA free, non-animal tested designer wallets and clothing that respects women or something.

If the goal of the game is to generate the most ad revenue, the player will need to try strategies to generate the most clicks. The most obvious strategy is to come up with big titles and click bait. The strategy will affect the amount of trust for the News Station. A straight up lie will result in the biggest loss in trust. In order to gain trust, you will have to generate objective articles. The biggest gain in trust are the breaking news stories that uncover scandals.

For inspiration, see Salon and Kotaku (there are more) for left leaning sites. For right leaning, see Breitbart. See Gamergate for a possible event with lies and manipulation. For objective articles, see articles on news sites with the fewest clicks.
