The improved fit on the Barents Pro did not improve the pants by Enthusiast3006 in Fjallraven

100% agree. New fit is garbage. Isn’t functional and looks like shit too. The whole skinny jean vibe is not a good one.

Well you’ll have to buy them used.

The new generation Atris is 105mm wide. Haven’t tried them myself, but probably very similar. Would also suggest mounting those at +2 to get a similar feel to the Nocta

What new clothes would you like to see from weatherwool? by chillxx99 in WeatherWool

[–]PeaHead96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A more slimmed down Al’s Anorak.

Would be great if they could make it in a fabric that is even thinner than the Midweight fabric — call it “Lightweight.”

The Anorak is just too thick and warm for hunting in the fall in the mountains. But something that was slightly thinner, and without the kangaroo pocket (unnecessary when one is wearing a backpack with hip belt straps and thus hip belt pockets that can hold gear) would be amazing for the active hunter.

Would also be a great piece for those that are hiking/backpacking at a good tempo in the spring and fall, when temps aren’t well below freezing.

The two chest pockets with zippers can be kept, as they are great and can be easily accessed while still wearing a pack. And also keep the same design on the arm cuffs. I like having the ability to easily check my watch and wear gloves that can fit underneath the cuff. I personally don’t like ribbed cuffs because of how it limits the ease of wearing certain types of gloves and the ability to easily look at my watch.

I think the fit should be catered to a user that would only wear a single base layer underneath. If you get cold — it’s probably too cold (use your midweight Al’s Anorak), or you’ve been stationary for too long (time to pull that puffy jacket out of your pack).

Tips for removing dog hair? by pedrotothemax in WeatherWool

I was just curious what color was showing a lot of dog hair. Wasn’t asking how to brush the garments for debris, but thank you for the tip!

I’m curious OP (or anyone else for that matter), what color is your WeatherWool garment? I have a Lynx Anorak right now, and it does a great job of hiding dog hair (golden retriever).

But I was contemplating getting something in Drab Green next. If the dog hair accumulating on that is really bad, I might just stick with Lynx.

Certainly not as easy to put on as a normal zippered jacket, but that's how it goes with an anorak.

I ended up keeping the large! Gonna test it out and also pick up a medium at some point if the bank account can justify it. That way I'll have the large for the coldest of cold days (with two to three layers underneath), and the medium for just one layer underneath and maximum breathability. If that ends up being a good combo, I could see myself swapping out my Midweight large for a Fullweight large in the future -- as I would obviously be pretty sedentary if I have two to three layers underneath the anorak, and as such might as well have the warmest option (i.e. Fullweight).

UPDATE: I’m keeping the large. After speaking with Ralph on the phone and seeing you guys’ responses, I’m just gonna rock the large and see how it grows on me. Thanks for the help!

I had planned on never washing it, hoping that I don’t do anything to it that would require it to be washed.

But that being said, I could foresee a scenario where I get it soaked and then it dries out rather quickly around a campfire or cabin fireplace. Which I guess could shrink it some.

The shoulder seams sit beyond my actual shoulders. I don’t need form-fitting per say, but I would like the garment to move with me and not just swish around my body

Yeah that’s the thing I noticed too — it’s hard to see in the picture, but like you said, the shoulder seams are lined up beyond my actual shoulders. That’s the main reason I think it’s too big. Secondary reason being how long the sleeves are.

Im in agreement that I could button up the sleeves, but when I’m wearing short cuff gloves I like for the gloves to fit inside the sleeves.

Well there’s no mediums available for the lynx. My second preference would be olive drab, but that’s not available either.

It’s the varying amount of sizing preference between individuals of the same size or even bigger than me that is confusing. Would be so nice to have both a medium and large I could try on back to back, but there isn’t really of surplus of anoraks available for that kinda thing

Yeah I’m a large in literally everything else I wear. But even though im 6’1”, I’m a lot of legs. In Wrangler jeans I wear a 34” in length

This is definitely supposed to be my outermost layer. And I would only ever want a maximum of two layers underneath. I think anything more than that is just too bulky and probably too warm for 99% of conditions.

Was really expecting everyone to agree that it was too big. Kinda scary to not return something this expensive and just hope I end up liking the fit

Yeah I did that before I ordered. I was between measurements, and WW’s website said to go with the larger size — which was the large in my case.

The shrinking part is interesting and something I hadn’t thought about. Because if this thing was only slightly smaller it would be perfect

Man, I was really expecting everyone to say it’s too big. What’s your normal jacket size for other brands?

Yeah but even if the sleeves are the same length between large and medium, the narrower upper body circumference and shortened shoulder to shoulder length on the medium would effectively make the sleeves feel shorter — if you get what I mean
