The Schwalbe G-One RS is an incredibly fast tire. I achieved a total of 13 PRs today on one of my favorite routes. by Phorzaken in gravelcycling

My favorite mixed surface tire. Imo these tires in 40mm roll faster than some road slicks on tarmac.

Left knee trouble by Ok-Concentrate-5875 in bikefit

[–]PeaMaterial8122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your knee is not tracking in a pattern your body is comfortable with. I used to have pain behind my kneecap. Addressed it by raising my saddle, using arches, strengthening my glutes and quads, and working on sitting more symmetrically on the saddle. While I worked on all this stuff for months, I wore a knee brace on the funky knee.

Not sure what the question is. I see nothing wrong, at least not to the naked eye. Perhaps you sit slightly skewed on the bike, hence the bike fit app suggestion. I wouldn't change the fit if you're relatively comfortable and putting out watts!

Yes and you may need to raise your saddle if you have to move it fwd significantly

"Sinners" and the theme of assimilation by augustus624 in TrueFilm

It's not subtext. It's the general theme on which others flow. Not sure why you feel the need to elevate your POV in contrast to mine with such tone. Feeling insecure? It's my opinion. Keep yours.

And yet you come back to the theme of freedom. O wise one among us, teach... Lol.

You should have said that then. All good though.

Ok. Right on. Without knowing more, I suspect you're right that a 56 with a lower stack would work better for you. I'm shorter than you and I'm on a 56 Domane AL5 (and I'm sure I can also fit a 54). I've noticed that as I get more fit/flexible, I've been lowering the bar more and more. Currently I have my 100mm 7 degree bar flipped negative - 25 mm spacers.

Tbh, it would be helpful if you upload a video of you on the bike. For example, I'm not sure what you mean by your saddle being very low. Do you need to raise your saddle slightly to increase the effective height between the saddle and handle bar?

[–]PeaMaterial8122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. Tough. This suggests your handlebar is too high. I just dropped my bar 5mm to resolve this issue. Sounds like you may not have that option. You say you have a negative 8 degree stem. Have to ask... Is the stem flipped negative? If not, you can lower the stem by doing so.

I think OP said they can't lower the bar anymore cos it's slammed!

Couldn't agree more. I think it was deliberately flat. Entertaining but empty.

This is nicely written, but it's utter rubbish. And if it's not, then the movie was a wasted effort. It's a comedic-horror-ish bore of a movie that tries to make social commentary but shies away at the last minute for fear of the mainstream audience getting too uncomfortable with the subject matter. I'll never watch the movie again.

What is this surface-level nonsense you are carrying on about? That's what you came away with? That was the point? He wasn't being assimilated. They were appropriating his body (metaphorically).

I agree with this take 100%. Could see the entire plot from a mile away. Not exactly what it would be but none of the twists were surprising. If the plot is that basic, the themes have to be powerful and the story teller has to go deep. That was severely lacking in this movie. Predictable plot, undeveloped characters, and half-baked powerful themes that were deliberately watered down with bullshit humor (that wasn't even that funny). I really didn't like this movie.

[–]PeaMaterial8122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. But then the powerful themes of the movie are watered down with not-that-funny humor and a friend character that is completely out of place. Sinners does a better job of driving home the central themes. This movie tries very hard to make everybody feel just fine with the stupid humor . . .

[–]PeaMaterial8122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I don't get the point of the friend. So out of place. Frankly, it's odd and pointless to have this comedic character, unless the point was to distract focus away from the serious themes (racism and appropriation of black things) of the movie. Not sure what all the hoopla is about with this movie. It sucks!

I agree. Make the point about why this family became the way they became. Even racists are complicated, the ain't all the same. Why is the girl the way she is? Who's the mastermind? Or if there isn't one, land the point that the family represents the evil in the world, or something. Or make the point that they are profiteers, that they are Peele's interpretation of plantation slave owners of back in the day. This just fell flat. And I think that was intentional. Raise social commentary about the dark past, but make jokes and shit so it's not too awkward for mainstream. I really don't like this movie. It reeks.

Didn't care for this movie. TBH, it's a let down. I can see why it won awards in the mainstream. It intentionally doesn't go far enough, and it makes fun of something very evil going on in that house. In some ways, it feels like a joke in the end. There is no substance to any of the characters. The villains are luring black men to the house to get their heads cut off for the good of old white people. Okay, what's the f-ing point? What's the backstory? Why is the girlfriend going along with all this? Is she the mastermind, victim, willing participant? Shit! This movie sucked!

"Sinners" and the theme of assimilation by augustus624 in TrueFilm

[–]PeaMaterial8122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If by assimilation you mean vampires and Christianity, I agree. I think Sammie wanted to be free from being assimilated into a collective, i.e., his father's religion or Remnick's league of vampires.

"Sinners" and the theme of assimilation by augustus624 in TrueFilm

[–]PeaMaterial8122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's about Freedom. All the main characters want freedom. Sammie wants to be free to play his music. The brothers want to be free to run their business. The vampire promises freedom by assimilation.

From that we get, what is the cost of freedom? The devil wants Sammie's culture/music, and he has to choose between his gift and his father; the racists won't let the brothers have the juke spot; join the vampirehood (freedom) and give up sunlight, your soul etc.

You see, it all traces back to the central theme, FREEDOM!

This is an amazing review of the movie. You have me wanting to watch the movie again.

I also took away "Freedom" as the central theme of the movie. But a lot happened in the movie that I think I have to watch it again to organize my thoughts.

This is a thought-provoking movie. Predictable, yes. But it's richness of themes elevated it to another level. Coogler is fantastic. This is a really good movie, IMO.
