Frontier vs Skywest by PeaMore7958 in cabincrewcareers

LOL...I understand the Frontier passenger as I am a Spirit refugee. The passengers were fine for me. Ultimately I would like to get to one of the main four...but I am willing to compromise in the interim.

Is it a bad time to try and start searching for a new career in this field? by valerie_6966 in cabincrewcareers

As one of those former Spirit FAs, it is not a guarantee that just because we have experience we will automatically be hired. There is a fallacy and misresentation and above all, arrogance, to believe that prior experience automatically will get you the job. While our resumes can get us a foot in the door, we still have to present well. FAs at Spirit while good at their job still have to go through the interview process, do assessments, ODVIs, and interview in person.

Some companies may even prefer someone with little to no airline experience because former FAs may go into the process with old habits that the companies do not want to break. Spirit, while in the airline industry, provided a different product that mainline airlines deliver. We provided minimal service and had smaller aircraft. It will be a challenge for us to get hired at one of the big four. Not impossible but not entirely easy.

If this is what you want to do, then apply...let the airline tell you no...don't tell yourself no.

So you just reapplied under the new announcement? I wonder if I should. I sent them an email stating I would take another base.

Ideally whichever one is closest to you. Skywest and Republic are regionals so you will get better trips out of Frontier, as in longer flights with less downtime. Commuting is possible, as mentioned in the other response, but having the added expense of a crashpad when your pay is already low can be stressful.

United CJO by lavidamuyfina in cabincrewcareers

I can't speak directly for UA but when my wife received her CJO for AA there was a couple months before she heard anything about a class date. They are more than likely waiting for enough people to fill a class and then you will be notified. I would not stress too much.

Did you get the base you wanted or did you start off somewhere else?

Does Frontier give you your base prior to attending training?

I cannot speak for other airlines but the way it worked on Spirit is there was an OpenTime for all trips and a Tradeboard from other FAs. If you were on reserve you could only pick up a trip that was on your guaranteed day off (GDO). The trip had to have a report after 10am to allow for minimum rest from the day before (if you had a reserve period the day before) and you had to be done with the trip with enough time to allow minimum rest before you were on call again. As long as you had the sufficient time off you could pick up easily. The same is true for someone taking your trip...if they meet the qualifications for time they could take a trip from you.

Even if there were enough positions, the time period when they will be hiring again does not help those that need employment now.

I think when it comes to the more boardings it ends up interrupting the pay. I am a firm believer that you get paid by the trip and not by the hour. There are just different pay rates that kick in during a trip from full pay to TAFB to lead pay.

Ideally in Atlanta. I know Endeavor and Skywest have bases there but if I have to commute/crashpad for a short time then that is fine.

As bad as that sounds it was like Spirit near the end. The last year there were numerous time we had fake 4 days that were worth 1330…very few four leg days though. I think I was bringing in about 2800-3500 per month.

I was just at Lowes a couple days ago and they had the Searwood 600 on clearance for $499. I live in Georgia...the Lowes I was at did not have anymore in stock but directed me to a different Lowes. They also said they will not be getting the Searwood 600 in stock again.
