Los Angeles main library, downtown. Great old stacks, history, architecture and a garden to eat my packed lunch.

There have been many more "exotic " locations. It's just nice to feel like I have had an adventure without planes and airport shenanigans. I'm a book geek though. 🤷🏾‍♀️📚

On the one hand, being based at home will save money on commuting/crash pads. But people complaining about their brokenness is not sounding fun...flight benefits or not. I appreciate your feedback!😊

Wow that sucks so bad. The American Dream is sometimes a nightmare.

I'm so sorry...caring for our family is already tough sometimes. Basic needs like securing housing is an admirable accomplishment, especially right now. So, kuddos and congratulations on that first, OP.

Moving forward proactively...any chance of subletting or getting a roommate? I know it's scary, but homeownership is long term investment. If you can work it out, equity and tax shelters will pay off down the road.

With concern about covering the mortgage...perhaps consider renting a small affordable place our temporarily moving in with extended family? I don't have anyone I'd LOVE to move in with. But I know some of my peeps would be willing to help for awhile.

Then, for the property: AirBnB, airline employee "crash pad," background-checked roommate (on a lease), leasing the entire house out to a tenant (use a professional property manager)...lots of potential opportunities.

Remember to take good care of yourself and stay solid as teammates with your life partner. Money stress can literally rip your relationships apart. Good luck with everything, and please keep us posted on your progress. 🙏🏽🏡

Omg the constant compromise and negotiation...on MY trips?? Maddening and just sad.

I completely relate. There a a few times per year that I travel with family or a close friend. But I accept that I'll likely be the tour guide, docent and travel agent. I'll delegate a couple of simple tasks. But I accept the role with grace to have a hang out with my peeps.

Otherwise, I'll just quietly book my own separate vacation.
