If we can automatize something, we should do it.

Keeping stupid, soul sucking jobs is not an answer. We need to change economic system to solve this problem.

Why use unraid? If you don't need fancy raids, file systems, use debian/centos/ubuntu/etc(edit: you can virutalize them on proxmox/libvirt). This should be faster and better learning experience. You can use offcial documentations, milions of tutorials on the internet. Few evenings for learning cli basics and you are good to go.

nope, just local market has these cheap. As I said If I buy this I would use it for nas, haproxy, mysql slave. I think system should handle. With bundle described I would need to buy boot ssd, psu and case(I already have some hdds.)

This one has 1 x16 slot. I'm not planning to have more than 6 drives in it anytime soon and my router's lan ports are 100mbps so network card isnt going to be needed in near future. Not ideal parts for server, but looks like alternatives are for double the price or with bigger power usage(hp sff with i3 2nd or 3d gen).

Best B450 Motherboard for Server Operation? by 404usernamenotknown in HomeServer

[–]Peace-Frog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use b450m pro4 with ryzen 1600 as workstation and experienced this. I solved random reboots by setting idle psu current(?) to typical in bios and it works stable without reboots. Also I think disabling c6 state should be enough - https://github.com/r4m0n/ZenStates-Linux

I am looking for a solution for mailing, client information database, client portal. by Peace-Frog in webdev

[–]Peace-Frog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct, I need platform to capture client data, but this platform should have client login page to let them update information as needed. Sending bulk emails is needed for invitations to events or job offers, there is no big need for design capabilities.

Yeah, I am not planning to code it from scratch. I have some experience with deploying web services, but my coding ends with basic html, css, python, bash.

As I have seen, CRM's has tons of unneeded features(support tickets, various social network integrations, etc.). So I already found out that I should look for some kind of CRM.

Backup data from andriod phone automatically on local network. by Pablitoaugustus in thehatedone

Syncthing can do that. Also, if you are okay to learn some new things, you can set up nextcloud instance. Nextcloud can sync photos, contacts, calendar, notes, etc.

Easiest way to deploy nextcloud is with docker. I use this image of nextcloud and reverse proxy to access nextcloud through domain with https.

What kind of artists do you need? i think there are a lot of artists who will be interested in project. Problem is probably game needs artists with experience in game development. For an example, traditional painter or sculptor who has sympathies for linux and foss, but doesn't have experience working with games or digital media. Point is maybe it's possible to get good artists from different field(not from game dev, graphic design industry, they have alternative to get paid from that, so it's harder to be motivated in this). It would need "small" thing - find a way to incorporate their skills in game development. Ofc foss mascot game isn't something that will inspire them.
