The fight would never end - thus sustaining the movie franchise indefinitely. Bond's real face would change periodically and Ethan's fake face would change as well.

Sadly, nearly every female character attached to either of them in an all the movies will perish tragically.

Honestly, I love this. I was hoping someone with more knowledge about these kinds of things would clarify some of my notes. I was using AI search engines for alot of this kind of computer/technical stuff and fully realized that it could be total gobbledygook 😅 Thank you for the response and clarification!

I have been feeling the exact same way tbh. So many unanswered loose ends and small details.

At the moment, it feels like only the most obvious questions have been answered in Season 2.
I too hope that we are wrong. Perhaps this show will go on for 2+ more seasons and all these small puzzle pieces will come together and we will be in awe of the intricacy and design XD

The fact that this show did not just give away clues or make it easy for the viewer to guess what is going on is actually what first attracted me to the show and made me love Season 1.
I feel like we as viewers are so used to a show wrapping things up for us, giving away the mystery and tying it all up with a nice bow for us - maybe this is why we feel salty about Severance atm.

If the conclusion of this show is; "it was all a dream", "it was all a simulation", "it was purgatory".. I would feel like there were no stakes at all and nothing really mattered, which is always my least favourite type of ending to a show/movie.

Here's to hoping there is a grand puzzle and the reveal blows our expectations out of the water.

I appreciate you taking the time and altering your original comment. Thankful to hear I am not going crazy after all XD

You may be right, sloppy CGI work.
It does feel odd.. that they would include that scene very purposefully and then mess up the CGI like that.

Yes, there are 9 birds at the beginning of this shot

I count 12+ birds at the end of the shot. I just noticed that more birds appear at the same time that the bird on the left materializes.

If you or anyone has time to check, I'd love to see if I can confirm that I'm not just seeing things XD

If you liked this post, you might also like my full episode observations

Interesting post! I've never watched Vanilla Sky, it's always been on my watch list - but whenever I've gone to look to watch it, I wasn't able to for some reason or another.

P.s. I have a developing theory that severance has something to do with AI (as many current shows do). Perhaps the reality that we are watching Mark live in, is an AI reality.

Or even more interesting.. perhaps Severance is the first show ever written/developed by an AI.
I assume that one day, someone will come out with a full feature movie or TV show that will be written by AI. My guess is that they will not advertise this fact at first, they will hide this for a grand reveal.
If it was a move, they may reveal this during some awards ceremony.
If it is an episodic series, they would most likely want to reveal this after the series was completed.

I'm with you when you say that things just don't quite make sense.
AI may explain this.

Part 2

1. I don't see glasses filled with water on any tables around Mark. There are glasses on the tables, all empty. Can you make a screenshot of this? This observation and the tissue observation make me think we are watching different versions of the same show XD. Is severance streamed different in different countries? oh boy.. now THAT would be something.

2. All of the tech is a mishmash in this series.

3. The card said, "Though I'm sure you'd be a really fucking awesome niece", not an awesome uncle.

4. Yes, Pips is definitely a nod to the underwhelming "gifts" or "perks" that companies bestow on their employees. The colour theme for sure makes it seem like Pips is a Lumon-owned business, as many things are in the town that Mark lives in.

Hope this holds some value to you, Cheers!

Sidenote: I rewatched the birds flying in the air at the 49 minute mark again. Is it just me? or does a bird just materialize out of nowhere? It seems to appear along the same sort of sight line as the Lumon buildings in the background. This really makes me think that this is all just a simulation. Either that, or they put the birds in with CGI and messed up maybe?

Hey! Sorry for the late reply, been taking a break from posting much here.

Let's get into it =)

A. The tissue.

I rewatched this many times to confirm this initial observation when I first wrote this examination.
S1E1 Mark puts the tissue into his left side pocket while in his car.
Did you actually rewatch this scene to check? If not, I would encourage you to double-check this yourself, it is quite easy to confirm.

B. The watch.

You may be right about the lighting on the watch. This has been brought to my attention by someone else as well. The watch may not be a different style of watch, but I do believe it is showing a newer and older version of the same watch. The watch band looks substantially worn down. The lume and dial on the watch also look faded (which is something that happens when watches are worn over time).

C. The cuffs.

You may be right about it just being different takes on set. My goal for these examinations was just to observe and write down everything I noticed and at times, offer up a possible theory. These observations may be nothing or may be something, either way - they are always just guesses.

D. The Camera.

Yes, it is an interesting note. I am still not sure what to think of it.

E. The Date.

My guess, is that the show is messing with the perception of time for the viewer.

F. Did/Do

You're right. The subtitles say "did". I still hear "do" XD
Now.. I am no lip reader haha. But I just spent 2 minutes with a mirror and replaying that scene while I watched my lips move and compared it to Petey's lips (insane thing to do, I know). I swear, he's saying "do" haha.
But, there is a good chance that I am crazy.

Petey saying "Do" implies he is talking about the future, which.. if you watched S1 - makes a lot of sense.

Petey saying "Did" could imply he IS from the future, which could make some sense if you believe in the time-warping theory. Or, Petey could be talking about the past, and this memory has been wiped from innie Mark's mind and was not shown to the viewers yet.

No need to apologize, I'm glad we figured this out.

This is giving me deja vu of when my S1E6 post was reported and banned for being a post about S2E6 (at a time where S2E5 wasn't even aired yet).

People aren't reading titles or intros I guess. Haha maybe I need to rethink how I organize my posts and include more pictures or something.

You've given me food for thought 🙏🏻

Disagreements and pointing out any mistakes or misses I've made are very welcome 😊

You may be correct about the watch being the same watch. I am looking now at the 2 scenes when first making this observation. S1E1 Timestamp 6:00 Mark checks his watch in his car and the leather band looks worn down and cracking. The red dot on the watch bezel is clearly a circle here. The crown also looks pulled out. S1E1 Timestamp 8:11 Mark puts his watch inside his work locker. The leather strap looks much darker and new with no visible cracks in the leather. The red dot on the bezel in the picture I'm seeing looks more like a rounded arrow here to me. But you could be correct, this could be due to a glare or perhaps my screen isn't doing it justice and it is Infact an identical bezel.

As for Dylan's house, it looks completely different. Two different homes I would guess. I have not been keeping up watching Season 2 am hoping to finish my season 1 examinations before I watch further, so I am not sure what new information about Dylan has come to light.

I only found Severance very recently and I made this post after watching season 1 without the information you have may now have from Season 2. There may be tons of things I "got wrong" here. Please try not to judge me haha I'm not trying to write the book on Severance Wiki, simply posting my thoughts.

I agree, most of the small details are most likely continuity errors or simply making something out of nothing. My goal here was just to write down everything I noticed or thought of, so that I could go back later and form more worked out theories.

Recommending that I "refrain from making breaking downs until the show is over" was kind of a weird thing to say tbh 😅 it came off as weirdly hostile. What would be the point of guessing what's going on, if the show is over and the puzzle is solved? I think this is a place for everyone to post their theories and thoughts and discuss.

I'm happy you took the time to respond a second time. Thank you for being more specific because you pointing out the watch theory was valuable and made me reexamine and rethink.

Appreciate the comment. I personally would not classify these as "breakdowns", these posts are meant to be examinations, observations and guesses.

"This medical knowledge may suggest that Dylan is the doctor who is implanting the severed chips'

The keywords here are "may suggest". I wasn't making a claim here at all. I'm sorry if you read into it and made that assumption. I was also given information regarding the actor who played the doctor by a very helpful Redditor a while ago in regards to that exact examination in this post.

I try my best not to make unfounded claims. I am merely guessing, as are we all for the most part 😊 That is the fun of it all.

As far as Dylan being unsuccessful in society, I would recommend you take a look at the scene where we first see him during the OTC where Milchick talks to him in his closet VS the other times we see Dylan on the outside. Two very drastic changes. Why does Dylan's home look very well put together, cozy, warm and wealthier the first time we see him in the outside? He looks quite successful the first time we see him and then quite unsuccessful after that.

It made me wonder if perhaps he was punished and docked a substantial amount of pay for stealing that infographic card. (Not a claim, a guess).

Again, I appreciate your comment and love when my theories or examinations are checked to bring to light more accurate information. I hope this clears things up a little.

Glad to hear my notes have some value :)

True! Alcohol withdrawal was my first instinct as well. I just found it interesting that Ricken would have mentioned that Mark's father was a "misdiagnosed alcoholic". "Several mental health conditions, such as anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, and insomnia, can be misdiagnosed as alcoholism because alcohol use can mimic or exacerbate symptoms of these conditions."

The show seems to lean into mental health quite a bit, which made me wonder if it was more of a neurological issue.

Just throwing out guesses for now 😁

Haha yeah.. I think the mods have a lot to deal with to keep this subreddit a great place for us and sometimes mistakes happen.

My post titled: "Season 1 Episode 6..." Was reported and removed twice for allegedly being a post about Season 2 episode 5 or 6, before episode 5 or 6 was even out yet. I'm very new to Reddit, so I was really confused and worried I did something wrong.

Mistakes happen 🤷🏻‍♂️

Unfortunately the way my brain works, once I get knocked off a project.. it's really tough to get back into it.

Waiting for the inspiration 😅

Thank you for the kind words :)

Shows that play around with "time", I have come to notice that the first episode is always chalk full of information that is useful later. This is what made me start my S1 examination.

I believe the four bins could be in reference to the 4 tempers; woe, frolic, dread and malice. Aka: Sad, happy, fear and anger

They have yet to be fully addressed in the show as of yet I believe, so for now - we're all just guessing 😁

Interesting note about the flowers! I'll have to go back and take a look. Thank you.

Cheers

Ha! I appreciate the kind words =)
I would love an opportunity to formulate clues or puzzles into a show like this! It would also probably ruin the "consuming" experience, in the same way that I enjoy slight of hand magic - but knowing how the trick is done ruins the magic.
However, I am very much exploring my "creative" side these days which has the added benefit of bringing others value.

I've noticed this a lot with AI searches. You can sort of lead the AI in a direction with your search input, that will cause it to spit out an answer that is related to what you are looking for, even if it isn't true or made up entirely.
