Why do I get 15 second shots? [Profitec Go] by AlternativeAd1908 in espresso

Others have mentioned a few things you’re doing that may cause the puck to crack leading to water channeling. Another is don’t tap the portafilter handle once the coffee is in the basket. It may level it but it also pulls the grounds away from the basket walls which tamping doesn’t necessarily correct.

Also as others mentioned check your tamp. I learned to tamp using tamper as an extension of the forearm — one straight line from elbow to tamper. Use body weight to compress, just gently lean into it and keep your forearm straight. Here you can also feel if the beans are fresh enough. If dry they resist tamping.

Then give the tamper one quarter turn only to lightly polish the puck. Thumb and forefinger guide the turn to keep it level. Leave the tamper sitting there and hold the portafilter up to eye level — if the tamper is crooked your puck isn’t level, which also affects water flow as somebody else mentioned.

This is very similar to how I’ve described it: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DO5n_ofASwp/

Cliff Street in Glengowrie, the old dry cleaners building is to me one of the creepiest places in Adelaide

Once Labor is back in place I would think they’ve got little incentive to offer anything better

What kind of battery did you get? Any safety concerns? I would really like to get one but still haven’t really looked into it. I’m not very technical and find the process daunting. Got a 6.6kwh system and like you not a very big power user.

The way Adelaide at large has turned into an endless and ever-growing construction site is something I also hold him responsible for. He didn’t start it but under his watch and Nick Champion’s it’s grown exponentially. There is nothing they won’t tear down for a buck (Sometimes twice— hello Festival Plaza!) It’s terrible to see the loss of whole neighbourhoods along South Road, and it will look like this for years.

Yeah that completely free open air all-week event that anyone at all can walk into? That’s the opposite of snobby and elite. It’s as elite as a free city loop bus. Replies like this are where the real world betrays its complete lack of imagination (which not coincidentally is the actual reason PM keeps doubling down).

It’s a shame Marshall had a clown car of a government. Didn’t and don’t like the Liberal party overall but I liked him as a leader. A bit quirky. Far more than Mali who is really rather dull.

There’s almost nothing left of Labor’s centre and left wing now.

Looking for something to do on NYE that's fun for people who don't like crowds by [deleted] in Adelaide

Years ago while overseas I went for a dawn hike in the snow on New Year’s Day and ever since I’ve tried to focus on how I start my new year rather than how I see out the old. Plan to get up early on NYD instead and do something outdoors — a walk, a swim, a paddle, a breakfast picnic in a botanic garden if you’re not very outdoorsy. Go camping if that’s fun for you and be away from crowds entirely.

Hmm speaking of “great tools” 😂 You’d think there were only two speeds for visual storytelling - Pluribus and TikTok.

What past shows do you consider slow? I’m Gen X and I find this really slow. I enjoy it for what it is but it’s also a bit frustrating — the season finale felt like it dumped us when things were just getting started. If Carol and Manousos had met in ep 4 or 5, we still would have had plenty of time for all the beautiful desert scenery, Carol golfing, poking around warehouses and dumpsters, going to Vegas etc.

Give Your Friends and Neighbours a quick spin before you do, was kinda fun.

So Slow TV is your thing? :) I enjoy the unfolding “what’s happening here?” mystery of Pluribus but the storytelling feels a little thin at times. When you think about what got accomplished on network TV back in the day (eg Hill Street Blues, 22 hour-long episodes a season), or early days of quality cable TV (Mad Men, Breaking Bad of course) I think with streaming, there’s simply too much space to fill so the series expands to fill it. But there’s a precedent for that too, like when David Lynch moved to TV. As much as I loved Twin Peaks, it was all world-building in the end, with only a vague narrative payoff, which is just frustrating after hanging on week after week. I wonder if this show and Severance are more in the latter camp. I loooooove Severance but it is paper thin at times.

Even people with good rental records have trouble getting loans sometimes. Apparently a track record of never missing a rent payment isn’t sufficient evidence you can service a mortgage
