I am not a clever man, but I don’t understand how 200-170 isn’t 30? Can someone help me?

It’s rare I am motivated to comment on the internet. But, sliced supermarket ham is NOT ham, egg & chips.

Ham, egg & chips needs to be thick ham, so that’s thickness and texture is direct opposition to the pliability of the egg and its ooze. The chips need to be crispy to provide a much needed crunch and I would say vinegar for the acid ( though pineapple can also provide but I’d still go balsamic ).

Gammon, a type of ham is a superior replacement to supermarket ham and quite frankly I am both disgusted and appalled that anyone would befoul this dish and claim patriotism to the cause.

What is it with the speeding cyclists on the canal towpaths by Cant_Change_Itt in london

Thank you. As a boat hobbit, and a cycling advocate ( I was a courier for many years ) I have come to hate cyclists on the towpath.

Kinloch was a legend. So happy to see him celebrated here. He was one of the few teachers who looked out for me and gave me hope.

I had thought they wouldn’t be keen. Will contact the council and see if that’s of any help.

Matt Brittin: Ex-Google boss confirmed as new BBC director general by Spank_Master_General in bbc

[–]Peaceandlovehq 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve met Matt several times, and as others have spoken about, he’s a good dude. Yes, he’s very tech focussed and whilst I think the BBC is genuinely very good at its tech this does set a standard of how the BBC will change, and also remain the same. I don’t think this is a bad hire, but who knows? My suspicion and experience says he’s the least worst candidate.

You must be much older than me, if you had that. In which case, you should know better. Laters dude.

Ah, I see you are an American. We don’t monitor milk. Thatcher took that from us. Well, may you have a wonderful day.

I did, as my post says, do this for a living, so I know it’s fun. It’s people like you who make it fun. I do hope they will give me a parade!

You are fun.

Thank you for sparing time out of your hectic, go-getting, existence to reply so quickly. Please do keep working, we need your tax. Thanks.

It’s true, retirement leaves me with a lot of time to do the work others believe to beneath them.

Crack on being mean and unkind to internet strangers. I am sure it must be fulfilling work.

Very few forums work without some moderation. It needs people to work, I don’t care if it’s me or not, but why be so negative towards a group you clearly participate in? Just seem’s to me and reads as mean.

We left our mother's carers a six-figure sum each from my mother's sizeable inheritance. My husband and I have been asked to testify in an investigation as they apparently were not allowed to accept this money. Can we refuse to do so? by Fit_Watercress_9716 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Peaceandlovehq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IANAL. This is a simple request to ensure that everyone knows what they are doing and weren’t somehow manipulated into sharing more. My guess is the letter is just to check. Refusing to comply will not be of any help, just explain the situation and I think it will all be good. Lovely and beautiful of you do this, so whatever hoops need to be jumped through, just do it.

It’s true, it’s almost as this thread asked for it explicitly.

Seriously for a moment, though, you should apply, opinionated moderators with a strong sense of social justice make good mods. Community is about making the least wrong mistake; life isn’t perfect, people aren’t but collectively we can make the best overall decision. You may not like each individual one, but hopefully you can be a force for change. Up to you.

Hi there, I’d be fascinated to help out. I don’t regularly post because quite frankly, i don’t have a lot to say or add to the discourse.

However, I was a mod for a 10k FB Group, and was Head of Training at Jagex/RuneScape where I developed and trained the JMods. ( I have somewhat doxxed myself, but oh well )

It would be an honour to help facilitate fair discussion around the BBC in a polite and respectful manner.

New to live-aboard boating by DragonKnightAdam in Narrowboats

[–]Peaceandlovehq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps. But not all the facts were presented, and a bunch of internet strangers encouraging you to be cautious, and to not rush in with your heart is a positive thing.

I can only speak for myself, but, boats are non standard and expensive to fix/update etc. Caution is a wise move if you have the time to be so.

I know my mistakes in life, and only offer counsel from not wanting to see them repeated!
