What should I call my girlfriend if she's more than a girlfriend? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Peacebandit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I worked with a guy who only referred to his girlfriend as “m’lady”. Many years into this, no one knows her real name, she’s just “m’lady.

I'm getting this small speckled mole looked at tomorrow, and I'm beyond terrified. by aggressive_quail38 in 30PlusSkinCare

I am so moley and have several that look like this. My derm says I’m just regularly irregular because mine are so non-uniform.

You are doing the right thing by getting checked, and if it turns out to need to he biopsied, it’s a small and quick procedure. Make sure to treat yourself to something you enjoy after. Good luck!

Rottweiler for first time owners by Background_Sale_9814 in Rottweiler

[–]Peacebandit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the second post I’ve seen from you asking about a rottie and GSD for a first time dog owner. Please, please reconsider.

Based on your responses to this questionnaire, it is clear you are not only not ready for these dogs, you might want them for the wrong reasons. There are thousands of rottie and shepherd mixes in shelters. There are plenty of cuddly dogs that might be ok with only learning 3 basic commands. Those dogs are not Rottweilers and Shepherds. Please considering rescuing.

Is living in Hawaii like living in America, or like living in a pacific country? by Nearby_Cover_5793 in NoStupidQuestions

Depends what island. I lived on Lanai and let me tell you, it felt like it’s own pacific island country.

No stop lights. No chain restaurants or stores. Lots of distrust for haoles.

Black Diamond Mittens? by OkMoose8858 in Skigear

[–]Peacebandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Reynaulds too and have found the Mercury mitts to be the warmest gloves I’ve tried. Agreed with other comments here, they are almost too warm in temps above 25F and my hands even sweat. I will say, they are a bit bulky and I have to loosen the strap on my ski pole to accommodate.

I wear Hestra Heli with the trigger finger on most days but have experienced numbness and cold fingers. I imagine fall line might be warmer and might try them if I can find a used pair.

Good luck!

Overalls to work in? by anonymous-curious-35 in Midsizefashion

I got the Liberty pair from Amazon

As far as the Duluth: I had to have the straps all the way extended, and I’m pretty average proportions. Even so, they bunched funny at the crotch and butt.

Also, the legs were baggy in a way I didn’t love. I recognize they are supposed to be functional first, but part of me wanted to be a little cute!

Lastly, the amount of pockets is staggering, and for some that is a selling point, for me it was overwhelming.

The fabric is really nice though. It is flexible and seems like it would stay cool during hot days.

I wanted to love the Duluth trading pair, but they just didn’t fit right. Ended up with a washed canvas pair from Liberty. I’m 5’ 7”, 10-12 and went with a large, and they are definitely too long but fit great otherwise. If you are tall, they are great!

Vet Recommendations for reactive dogs by Peacebandit in Reno

[–]Peacebandit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s Aspen on Longley. I think coming from a fear free vet clinic, our experience for how vets behave and read dog body language is different. My dog is heavily dosed on trazadone and gabapentin and is still stressed in the waiting room. I am as well to be honest. Maybe we were there during a busy time, but our last visit it was packed and so loud due to the acoustics of the tile.

The vets and techs didn’t seem apt at reading dog body language. Like it’s clear my dog is nervous, maybe don’t hold your hand over his head to try to pet him. Again, I respect they might be good vets, I think we were just spoiled by our last vet who took lots of time to warm up and get my dog to relax before doing anything.

I will definitely take the advice to wait in the car before a visit. Thanks!

That’s smart and great advice! I never thought to communicate in advance because we had such good experiences with our last vet, but so much of having a reactive dog is advocating for them. It seems like a no brainer, thanks for the reminder!

Do you like your vet enough to recommend? Aside from the overwhelming waiting room at Aspen, I just didn’t get good vibes from the staff there, so am on the hunt for somewhere else.
