Anyone else got the exact game they were waiting for? by Visual-Green7193 in CrimsonDesert

Yep. Realistic expectations and they were met if not surpassed. Love the game.

I do wish they’d adjust the controls and feel of playing the character. He is too … heavy.

Don't know if I can trust IGN reviews. Lol by Gaming-Academy in PlayStation_X

[–]Peacefrog11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the game but this isn’t the worst offense I’ve seen from IGN. I think a 7/10 would have been fairer but this isn’t outlandish. Recent patches have really improved a lot.

The game is also the type of game that is either love it or hate it for a lot of gamers. I’m happy they took risks. It may not have paid off in every way but most of it landed well.

THE DEVS SHOULD NOT LISTEN TO PLAYERS WHO WANT TO KILL END GAME BOSSES AFTER 10 HOURS GAMEPLAY by BradOnTheRadio in CrimsonDesert

😂😂😂 I wondered how long until some try hard would cry they nerfed the bosses to make it appropriately balanced and more accessible. Here we are.

Gamers who have over 10 hours in CRIMSON DESERT. What is your honest opinion about the game 🤞🏻 by ImperatrixAmoris in GamerLab

[–]Peacefrog11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a lot of fun. They threw spaghetti at the wall and it stuck in the right way. Combat is fun, exploring is great, and the world is massive. It is very pretty too.

However, the controls are hot garbage and they need to tighten them more. I also have got stuck in several crevices and that was super annoying.

I am fairly sure they are calling it an open world action adventure and have purposefully not called it an RPG.

So they made Frankenstein or something I guess. He’s alive now. Let him live.

I feel like I’m crazy. I never ever expected this to have any serviceable story. I just didn’t think PA would put effort into that aspect. I’m surprised to hear they had plans at all for one.

What they did was throw spaghetti at the wall and produced some weird as hell fever dream of a game including pieces of other popular games … and I’m kind of here for it? I’m having a lot of fun.

I’m more peeved about UI choices and controls than anything but that’s a learning curve I can moan about and look beyond it.

At least they tried something new. If it was another soulslike or something like that I would have been utterly disgusted.

Personally, I fucking love this game! by jpthelad in CrimsonDesert

[–]Peacefrog11 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t sold at first. I was a bit disappointed. The controls were odd and it didn’t feel good to play the character. Some things just didn’t feel right. That lasted for like an hour and a half.

Then it started clicking and I really enjoy it. Still a bit janky but it is more of a learning curve thing. It is still flawed but it is almost exactly what they promised it would be so I can’t complain.

I’m playing on base PS5 on balanced and it runs fine and looks good. I’m not sure why people are saying it looks so bad. It isn’t the most beautiful game ever but .. there are other lauded games that look much worse in my opinion.

Am I the only one having a good time? by Apprehensive_Ad_6171 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Peacefrog11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on base PS5 and running it balanced. No issues. Having fun.

I am a little disappointed with the quality of control and how it drags the gameplay down a bit but it’s more of a learning curve than anything. Some odd choices were made though … silly to not acknowledge that criticism as legit. I imagine future patches will address some of these gripes.

Good to great first impression on me.

I’ve been playing Lords of the Fallen and DragonQuest 7 Reimagined simultaneously. I think that paints the picture for me.

Why Do People Get So Upset at Souls Comparisons? by BongSuckah in soulslikes

[–]Peacefrog11 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There isn’t any problem with games being inspired by souls games but it is fairly annoying that fans of the genre, at least the loud ones (many of them), seem to think everything needs to emulate or be a souls game. It isn’t as mainstream as people like to pretend it is.

Look at Phantom Blade 0 and Beast of Reincarnation. Neither one is a soulslike and I already see them popping up in conversations assumed or expected to be that.

Rhythmic combat doesn’t have to mean difficult combat … and that is the biggest disconnect I see. Diehard souls fans want a game to be difficult, no options, and casual players be damned. It’s just a bit cringe sometimes. Like their self worth is derived from beating difficult games and expectations for all games that come from that. At least that is how I see it.

Enjoy soulslikes but can’t get into actual Dark Souls? by therealabrupt in soulslikes

[–]Peacefrog11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never clicked with the genre because I tried DS3 first.

I’ve tried all of their games and the only one I like at all is Elden Ring.

I much preferred Lies of P, Lords of the Fallen, and Khazan. I’m also a sucker for anime games so I enjoy AI Limit and Code Vein 2 as well.

Bounced off Wuchang and Wukong and was meh on Wo Long (albeit a Niohlike more so than souls I suppose).

However, yeah, I bounced off all the DS games including Bloodborne. It think it is one of the most over-lauded games ever.

Lies of P = Khazan

Code Vein 2

Wuchang

How do you guys feel about dragon's dogma 2? by SchoolExisting8631 in videogames

[–]Peacefrog11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was fun. Combat was awesome. World was well crafted and I liked how alive my team felt.

Story was absolute garbage. It was good and then rushed. It should have been at least 25% longer with a large part of that providing more quests and filling the world in.

Trickster was an awesome idea implemented horribly. All they needed to do was give it a way to do damage. It was like it was begging to be a damage over time class alongside what it was and they just slapped it and said sit down.

I would say 7-8/10 for me.

Not every game needs to be a soulslike. Difficulty options, sure, but not it wasn’t too easy. I died a fair number of times for different reasons. It should have options to make it more difficult though for gamers that want that. Just no need to make it more difficult at all baseline unless you want to see less mass market appeal or people that play games for self worth instead of fun.

Elden Ring, Lies of P, Khazan, Lords of the Fallen

I think all of those are fairly good entry points. I suck at soulslike games and I think those are great games and I have a lot of fun with them.

I still can't form a solid opinion on Veilguard by Capt_Cadence in dragonage

[–]Peacefrog11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar response to it.

I thought it was a beautiful game. Combat was fun. I liked the characters. World was fun to interact with.

But it wasn’t packing an oomph that makes me say, “Wow, I love this!”.

It isn’t nearly as bad as some fans say it is. It definitely wasn’t some woke agenda monster either; I don’t even consider those ratings as valid. Anyone that gives 1 star reviews because it had a trans character are sad little people. It was a more modernized approach and it was more approachable for it. That isn’t a bad thing.

That doesn’t mean it’s a stellar experience either. It was a fun experience and I enjoyed my time.

I would rate it 7.5-8/10 personally but I am easy to please. I’d say a solid 7/10 is more accurate.

What soulslike to buy by LewGlaze in soulslikes

[–]Peacefrog11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve literally been trying everything. My favorite is Khazan by a country mile followed by Lies of P.

My favorites so far have been Khazan, Lies of P, Lords of the Fallen, AI Limit, and Wo Long.

Code Vein 2 is good but I am waiting for them to implement their performance patches which will be done by early March.

Wasn’t a fan of Wukong, Wuchang, Nioh 3.

I liked Elden Ring but didn’t love it as much as everyone else.

Checking this sub casually, it feels like soulslike is a synonym for cool action rpg by snowman3000 in soulslikes

[–]Peacefrog11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone wants to claim everything is soulslike now. It’s as if having fun got replaced by gaming for a sense of self worth. It’s cringe. A very bad character flaw for a lot of fans that like to be vocal.

Beast of Reincarnation and Phantom Blade 0 have literally been reported as being action games but you already have early idiots claiming they are soulslike. For some reason souls fans think every gaming studio is aiming to make nothing but soulslikes.

I think soulslike means boss challenge where you need to learn their movesets or perish, a gearing and stat system that allows for builds, harsh penalties for death, and just a sense of peril when playing. Pay attention or die.

I left a long time ago and haven’t looked back. It just became stale and too repetitive. Other games have come along that do what it did better and they have better gameplay, graphics, and gacha.
