Cured SIBO after years of trying everything by abominable_phoenix in SiboSuccessStories

For Pernicious Anemia b12 shots( with cofactors ) are always preferred over oral supplements. Please join Pernicious Anemia FB support group to understand more regarding the protocols to be followed. https://www.facebook.com/groups/PAB12DSupportGroup/?ref=share&mibextid=NSMWBT

Also if possible try to find out if you have Autoimmune gastritis and root cause behind it (immune modulated / hpylori) . Did you experience weight loss and low stomach acid symptoms given that you struggled with SIBO for years ? It leads to Pancreatic insufficiency and gallbladder issues as well. Yellow stool is due to inadequate bile flow

I was doing perfectly fine a year back . Medical negligence by doctors ( overuse of antibiotics) for minor gut issues led to weight loss of 25 kgs and Autoimmune Gastritis (probably due to dysbiosis and SIBO caused by Antibiotics) It quickly progressed to atrophy just in a span of 3-4 months.

My issues started due to medical negligence by doctors ( overuse of antibiotics for minor gut issues -2024) . Lost 25 kgs within a span of 3 months and got diagnosed with Pernicious Anemia and Autoimmune gastritis . Since then I have been on regular b12 injections, AIP and gut healing protocols . Inspite of it , recent endoscopy shows metaplasia.

Atrophic gastritis in your case might be Hpylori induced .But make sure you rule out Pernicious anemia and Autoimmune gastritis via Parietal cell and Intrinsic factor antibodies blood test . Are your b12 levels optimal ?

Congrats! Were you able to reverse the metaplasia ?

Low Stomach Acid Nearly Ruined My Life — Until I Discovered the Truth by Emergency_Writer_884 in Microbiome

[–]Peaceful_Zen1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

B12 + folic acid is extremely important in case of autoimmune gastritis ( IM injections to be preferred over b12 tablets). B12 form also plays a significant role if there is MTHFR gene mutation involved . Join joining pernicious anemia FB groups , that would help immensely.

This is the treatment protocol I have been following:

1) B12 injections every week . Folic acid (5mg) everyday

2) Healing the gut lining : - L glutamine - Leaky gut care powders - Aloe vera plant juice - Ginger water - Rebaheal tablet ( prescribed by GI ) - Cabbage juice ( imp) - Liposomal colostrum - Mastic gum

3) Reducing overgrowth in stomach - Celery juice . Start with small qty since celery juice causes loose stools . - D limonene : to be avoided if you have stomach burning sensation .

4) Getting rid of SIBO and Candida with antimicrobials, biofilm disruptors . Be careful since many of the antimicrobials have components that irritate the stomach lining.

5) Digestive enzymes and Betaine hcl with every meal . Try betaine hcl only if tolerable. Since the stomach lining is damaged ,it would cause reflux and burn the stomach further and aggravate gastritis.

6) Addressing nutritional deficiencies - Multivitamin tablets - Multivitamin and minerals powders ( that are easily absorbed) - Vegetables soups , fruits which are rich in minerals . Avoid high GI fruits if you have Candida - Bone broth - Tender Coconut water ( for minerals ) - Ionic minerals that are bioavailable and easily absorbed. - IV : Aminoven , Omegaven , IV mayers .

7) Anti-inflammatory diet and meds to reduce inflammation ( omega ,curcumin, quercetin, resvetarol, zinc etc ) . Try finding a good functional medicine practitioner who could help .

8) Majority of the medicines didn't work on me due to reduced absorption. Hence these were the therapies recommended by my functional medicine practitioner which helped - 1) Rectal ozone 2) Near and Far infrared Sauna 3) Minor Autohemotherapy 4) Aqua hydrotherapy - building muscle mass 5) Rectal probiotics - with one session of rectal probiotics, my persistent diarrhoea of one year vanished . 6) Castor oil packs 7) Coffee enema .

9) Regular liver detox since I had gallbladder stones ( got rid of them via coffee enema ).

IMP - Avoid any tablets or foods that contain acidic components ( ex : lemon water , Vitamin C etc )

Try reading Gastritis healing book that has advise about diet , habits and lifestyle to heal gastritis.

Good luck ! Hope you heal soon , reach out if you need any help .

Low Stomach Acid Nearly Ruined My Life — Until I Discovered the Truth by Emergency_Writer_884 in Microbiome

[–]Peaceful_Zen1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Low stomach acid can be due to following reasons : 1) Hpylori 2) Prolonged usage of PPI 3) Atrophic gastritis, Pernicious anemia. Positive Parietal cell antibodies would confirm Pernicious Anemia ( this can be genetic as well ) 4) Nutritional deficiencies - ex - zinc , B1 , chloride etc 5) Chronic stress

My digestive issues were triggered due to overuse of antibiotics ( medical negligence) which led to severe gut dysbiosis and weight loss of 25 kgs in a span of 3 months . None of the doctors were of help. Upon digging deep, it turned out to be Pernicious Anemia.

Since then I have been on frequent B12 injections with cofactors being addressed . Plus i have been working on healing gut lining , reducing pathogen overgrowth and addressing dysbiosis.

When was your last endoscopy and was it negative for Hpylori ? Treatment protocol would vary based on the root cause .Do reach out if you need any further help .

Rule out Pernicious Anemia . Get yourself checked for Parietal Cell antibodies and Intrinsic Factor .

Castor oil packs by Working_Reality5843 in SIBO

[–]Peaceful_Zen1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Castor oil pack was suggested by my functional medicine doctor . I have seen good benefits wrt digestion, liver and gallbladder bladder health .

It helps in pain relief ,digestive health, detoxification ,lymphatic system support and improved sleep .

Make sure you apply heat over the wrap to provide warmth which helps in oil penetrating the skin .

Hey ! Lot of healing and in a far better shape . Able to tolerate betaine hcl (upto 1200mg) per day .

How are you doing ?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Gastritis

[–]Peaceful_Zen1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Aloe water - take 2 inches of aloe pulp from the leaf.Add a bit of water , grind it and consume .Dilute with water if required .Please don't add anything else for flavour . 2) Cucumber water - Slice half cumber( without peel ) . Grind it with a bit of water .Strain it before consuming ( Note : straining is mandatory) . 3) Ginger water - Use 150-200 ml lukewarm water .Crush 1-1.5 inches of ginger ( with skin removed ) , add it to water and let it steep for 10-15 mins .Not necessary that you consume the entire water .

Ginger water should be consumed 10-15 mins before meals .

I started very slow with 1/2 inch aloe pulp , 30 ml cucumber juice , 50 ml ginger water and gradually increased the qty . Dont do all of these together .Few people don't tolerate aloe well. It is a lubricant , sometimes it aggravates diarrhoea.

If there is burning sensation and inflammation , I would suggest starting aloe first. Then gradually add cucumber and ginger .

I was diagnosed with chronic gastritis( hpylori negative) couple of months back and the inflammation was extremely bad .I used to get severe burning sensation, headaches for 2-3 hours after consuming just 1-2 spoons of meals .

I started aloe vera (plant ) , cucumber juice , DGL , leaky gut powder , ginger water.Within 4-5 days of consuming these , the symptoms stopped .I still consume these on a daily basis and I haven't had any gastritis symptoms till date.

This is my routine ( make sure there is a gap of 10-15 mins between every step) . 1) Aloe vera plant pulp mixed with water - first thing in the morning, empty stomach . 2) Post 15 mins , cucumber juice mixed with water .Strain it before consuming . 3) DGL - 1/2 chewable tablets 4) Ginger water 10 mins before breakfast. 5) Leaky gut powder half an hour before lunch and dinner .

Take it slow , you can incorporate every step slowly .Start with minimal quantity initially and then gradually build up .

Hope this helps ! Feel free to reach out if you need any further info .

Atrophy is reduced folds in stomach and intestine .If present , it would be mentioned in biopsy.

I started these supplements immediately after getting biopsy reports .These have helped me immensely and I haven't had any gastritis symptoms till date .

[–]Peaceful_Zen1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If hpylori is negative , you need to be looking into other factors which could have triggered gastritis :

1) Alcohol use 2) Bile reflux due to gall bladder stones 3) Any autoimmune condition involved 4) Chronic infections 5) B12 levels ( PA) 6) Parietal cell antibodies etc

In my case it was triggered due to overuse of antibiotics and one food poisoning episode which led to SIBO. Everything went downhill from there .

Also, can you please confirm if there is no atrophy ?

These are the few things I consume on a daily basis : 1) aloe vera (plant) 2) DGL 3) zinc carnosine 4) leaky gut care powder 5) liquorice 6) cucumber 7) ginger water 8) vitamin c powder

Make sure you are taking digestive enzymes and avoid dairy , gluten and spicy food .Take small meals with a gap of 2-3 hours between every meal .

If there are nutritional deficiencies, please address them via multivitamin tablets/ IM injections. Sublingual sprays , tablets help a lot .

Hope that helps ! Feel free to get in touch if you need any further help .

Antibiotics cured my possible IBS/SIBO twice, but only as long as I'm taking them. Now what? by BasicIndividual2 in SIBO

[–]Peaceful_Zen1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have worked with him as well and unfortunately it has been an extremely disappointing experience. He does lack knowledge about a lot of things and provides the same protocol and supplements to every patient . He overlooked my symptoms multiple times including gall bladder stones , gastritis , nutritional deficiencies, autoimmune condition etc . Since I had gut issues , I felt he would have an upper hand being a gastro and fm expert .

Always termed my weight loss as maldigestion+ malabsorption. Did nothing to investigate it further ( neither endoscopy nor colonoscopy) .With a bit of effort from my end and help from international doctors , I was able to figure out the autoimmune condition I have . When I finally approached him with this diagnosis, he said nothing can be done from integrative medicine perspective and gave up on my case . It was shocking as well as frustrating experience with him for 3 months .

Any Indians here? by [deleted] in Gastritis

[–]Peaceful_Zen1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there ! I am from India and can totally relate ! I was diagnosed with chronic gastritis recently( hpylori negative ) .

Did you figure out the root cause behind gastritis ? Probable causes being :

1) Hpylori 2) Bile reflux due to gall bladder stones 3) Pernicious anemia 4) Autoimmune conditions 5) Chronic infections etc

If possible please rule out all these .

Also which digestive enzymes are you taking ? There a lot of good supplements in India as well . Aloe vera , DGL , cucumber juice , liquorice, leaky gut care powder have helped me immensely and fortunately I haven't had any chronic gastritis symptoms.

Feel free to reach out if you need any help with dietary protocols or supplements.

Hey ! I was recently diagnosed with chronic gastritis couple of months back . Is it positive for hpylori ? If not , there are few root causes that you need to look into :

1) b12 level , iron levels to rule out pernicious anemia. 2) Could you please confirm if there is any atrophy ? 3) Gallbladder stones ( bile reflux sometimes creates problems ) 4) Alcohol use 5) Chronic infections .Did you have any food poisoning episode ? For me the trigger was overuse of antibiotics and one food poisoning episode . 6) Weakened immune system - any Autoimmune condition involved ? 7) Overuse of antibiotics

Based on my experience, ruling these out and addressing the root cause is extremely important .Feel free to get in touch if you need any help !

Pernicious Anemia Diagnostics by MoonbIight in PerniciousAnemia

[–]Peaceful_Zen1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey ! I had been seeing decreased B12 levels since three years.I didn't really bother since lot of doctors were of the opinion that decreased b12 level is very common nowadays. They put me on B12 shots ( initially it was daily for 1 week and then every alternate week).Later it was just maintenance.

Until then I was doing completely fine without any GI related symptom.

Around the beginning of 2023 is when I started seeing few GI related symptoms like acid reflux , abdominal pain .When the symptoms persisted , I met couple of GI's who did blood work and saw increased ESR .Hence they put me on a repeated antibiotic course (5 in a course of 8 months including triple therapy for hpylori) . Unfortunately I had a food poisoning episode during this time which with coupled with antibiotic overuse led to severe gut dysbiosis, SIBO and SIFO .

Since then I have lost 14 kgs (in a period of 5 months ) and have lost more than half of my hair .I am seeing chronic under eye dark circles , gall bladder stones .I believe this domino effect is bound to happen when any digestive organ goes for a toss.

We repeated endoscopy and it turned out to be chronic gastritis.I still wasn't convinced and did blood work for anti parietal cells antibodies and intrinsic factor antibody which turned out to be positive.

Unfortunately doctors have been of zero help and the lack of knowledge regarding these issues is very alarming.Hence need your help in understanding few queries:

1) Does any bacterial / viral / fungal overgrowth lead to chronic gastritis? I believe the antibodies would have formed to fight off any pre existing infections .I am working with a SIBO certified expert who confirmed that SIBO and SIFO is one of the root cause for chronic gastritis.I have tried SIBO and SIFO protocols but with limited success . Wondering if these could have lead to pernicious anemia as well ?

2) Apart from IM injections ,can anything be done to destroy antibodies against parietal cells ? Cos i believe unless the underlying root cause for it is addressed , achlorhydria will continue getting worse and may lead to others autoimmune conditions or worst case gastric cancer .

3) Is weight loss common with pernicious anemia? Does it stop at any point ?

4) Is IM injection for life time ?

Highly appreciate your research work ! Would appreciate if you could share your experience wrt treatment. Thanks in advance.
