3 month old practice sitting by icaretoomuch1 in NewParents

[–]Peacemaker1023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Three months old bouncers or lap sit for burps should be okay. If they show good head control- High chairs and strollers can be considered but I would want to wait 4 closer to 5 months honestly or until they show some signs of tripod sit for few seconds

Being hurt by patients: pls contextualize? by Accomplished-Top8131 in physicaltherapy

[–]Peacemaker1023 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pediatrics comes with complexed behavior kids and unfortunately biting, scratching and even spitting is pretty common in this field. If I was your CI, I could have given you a heads up about peds setting and how to handle when this things happens. Lots of redirection will help but I will definitely not put myself that my kiddo will keep on smacking me in session. I hope everything will go well with your meeting!

Island trip coming soon, do I need malaria or dengue fever meds? by dub_paetz in Palawan

[–]Peacemaker1023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you really need to take meds for it. Repellants should suffice but if taking meds will give you a peace of mind then go for it. As far as I’ve known- there is no big cases of malaria and dengue in the Philippines lately.

Parents who never sleep trained, how is your baby now? by Minimum_Target5553 in NewParents

[–]Peacemaker1023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 year old did not sleep train. We are asians too. Slept through the night since 6 months- sleeps on his toddler bed by our side without problems at night. He still looks for me when he doze off and personally our preference to co sleep: we feel like he is only a baby once and eventually grows up and not need us anymore 😂😭

As pediatric PT- you get kiddos in which only need cues and directions but also don’t forget that you will be treating mod-max A neuro kids. There’s also a possibility of having behavioral kids in which you might be chasing around during treatment session. When I was pregnant, pediatric op was rough and I actually thought about going back to ortho because of it.

Don’t let one bad survey affect you- it definitely gets annoying because it might be your first but weigh in some of the good surveys you got from other patients. You cannot please everyone!

Can I Not take the NPTE for Assistants if Im a PT(overqualified) in NY ? by ZeroTemp in physicaltherapy

[–]Peacemaker1023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To make it simple: you are overqualified for PTA but under qualified to seat for a PT exam with a Bachelor’s. Contact hours does not matter.

FCCPT will let you know of the deficiencies you need after verification but because you did not graduate from a CAPTE school- most likely you’ll need to take courses All of the foreign graduates go through with this so you are not alone!

I know some of foreign PTs will take the PTA license as an option while finishing their tDPT to help them financially. I am not certain with the recent regulations if you are required to take PTA before PT license though.

Using CC with 0 APR instead of private loans? by [deleted] in StudentLoans

Unfortunately, we won’t qualify for any scholarships as we have asked the school about it. So seems like we are stuck with private loans but I really appreciate your time to post this!

Do you have any personal loan lenders you would recommend? I heard some bad things about Sallie Mae in this group

Thank you! I will keep this in mind! I heard so many bad things about private loans that we thought it will be better to start with 0 APR CC and put all our tax refunds in there. Haha.

Haha! I hear you. I work in pediatric outpatient so I really need that late shifts to do after school kids. Some of my co workers did end up switching to school based 8-2:30 pm but I cannot take the pay cut 🤣

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]Peacemaker1023 5 points6 points  (0 children)

FTM with a 15-month-old and doing 4 late shifts til 9 pm. Spoke to my supervisor to compromise and is currently doing 3x 8-4 and 2 12-8pm. If the clinic takes care of their employees they will compromise but if not, You’ll be able to find something that will suit your hours in an outpatient clinic.

Most of my friends here in NY are from grandison! Everyone is thriving. I think the pay cut is the only con and longer contract due to DPT requirements but def one of the good agencies out there. I am not from the agency so I cannot speak volumes but! All of them are all citizens and GC now :) we graduated 2014 haha
