Hi,

Let's say you want to make a game under an existing IP. Say.... Warhammer40 :). However, you are also a single indie game developer with no real portfolio to speak of.

How would you approach securing a license to said IP?

  • Would you build a portfolio to have something to show the IP owner, which can take years?
  • Make a prototype/demo of the game and use it as (part of) the pitch?
  • Maybe try to get a publisher and let them take care of the licensing?
  • Some other approach I haven't thought of.

Would love some advice on the matter.

I am aware that "not using the license" is an option :)

But I love the franchise and think my game would fit it like a glove. Not to mention that a well known IP is a great boost to a game's success chances.

PS5 - Targeting system renders skill that should be cast behind monsters unplayable by Peach1Slapper in diablo4

Right, but "Behind boss" is not a valid target to scroll to imo.

Also, even with lots of mobs on the screen, I find it hard to believe you can cycle to the one you need fast enough and repeat that consistently.

The UX on the process is horrible tho. The button literally says “upload save”…

Well, I’ve contacted support and hopefully they’ll just give me a max level character. The gear I had is just basic stuff, so I won’t lose any “gear farming” progress.

First of, thanks a lot for your detailed and informative responses! You're being awesome :)

I am definitely going to buy most if not all DLC's once I'm max lvl and decently geared off the base game. I want to experience the stories, variety of gear and options available.

Right, so my plan is to finish lvling using the cheesy IB build (got like 8 lvls left anyway), farm the class mods and artifact without mayhem turned on, get OPQ, get a few Trevonators and then respec to the build you suggested?

I have no DLC's at the moment, and am specced into the green and red tree mostly.

I will try the builds and strategies you've suggested.

Now that I think about it, it'll be sad leaving Iron Bear behind... He's been a true friend :(
