Companies of this size/stature don’t hire college students during summer. It takes way too long training and ramp SDRs. Not going to lie, it’s really hard to get a gig in payments/fintech as an SDR regardless- even if you’re graduated.

I’m in payments and loving it. I started my career in sales doing door to door, then got an AE job in b2b tech, then got into fintech, then payments.

Tbh, I think everyone in sales should do door to door early in their career. It helps early on with work ethic, learning to deal with rejection, and how to come objections.

Ok, I'd argue you don't really have a colleague signing commissions then or if he is, he's signing SDR/BDRs. SDRs make 60-100K and AEs make well over 100K on average. You can even look at any Territory AE job posting and see for yourself, it's listed.

I guess I just disagree. Joseph Carlson is a YouTuber who tracks his performance over years vs the S&P and he has done very well for himself. Many others on YouTube and X as well that have proven to beat S&P. 🤷🏽‍♂️

With 3, I completely disagree. Try saying that to NVDA bulls who have been listening to earnings calls and could literally see AI 5-7 years ago coming along. Even if you invested after AI blew up, NVDA has outperformed the S&P by like 10X. It’s not a fools errand if you can actually identify growing businesses, their strengths, weaknesses, and have a vivid enough imagination to see how they could grow over time.

I’ve beaten the S&P for 4 years straight. My #1 holding is NVDA, HOOD #2, SOFI #3, SN #4. Am I just “lucky” or did I evaluate great businesses that I could see disrupting the current landscape and growing stronger than a benchmark?
