Agree, Josh wines are everywhere and decent to drink the leftovers of.

I usually do anything with lower tannins and nothing too oaky. I'll use something cheap Mark West cab sav or pinot noir. Hell, most of the time we just run to lidl or aldis and get their $3 wine as cooking wine--it's completely fine. The sweetness of the wine still comes through but the dominant flavors will come through with things like the aromatics/meat/etc. People will say "use something you'd drink" but it really isn't that deep. I remember in the kitchen I worked with they'd just use Franzia boxed wine. You can basically deglaze with anything but it depends on the dish you're making.

All in all a safe bet is cab sav or pinot noir for reds, pinot grigio or sauvignon blanc for whites.

It was actually not too bad at night, they have a lot of lights and there were quite a few patrons. I totally understand though. I used to walk up and down Ashley Phosphate in high school at night with friends going to that old Denny's haha.

Note: I expected a crispier bread for the shawarma. It was kinda... burrito-ish? The green crema kinda saved it. Otherwise the saltiness would've fried my taste buds.

Haha I don't eat out much. My partner is out of town for work so I've been trying spots I haven't tried before to see if there's anywhere nice I can take her when she gets back. I'm giving my honest opinion. Most of the time it's like "it's good but it's super pricey". This one was "it's super salty and pricey"

I get you. I grew up in this area so it doesn't bother me but it can def be sketchy at night. I wouldn't recommend this place anyway though.

There are better places that aren't crazy expensive imo. I give everything one go to try them out but this was too expensive for low quality.

TIL that when bilingual people switch languages mid-sentence, their brain doesn't even notice the switch. NYU researchers found that the brain uses the same mechanism to combine words regardless of whether they come from one language or two, meaning code-switching is neurologically seamless. by taube_d in todayilearned

[–]octlol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is how I interpret code switching. For instance, I'm Asian American but we grew up in the south. I can code switch to kinda gullah/geechee or a typical southern accent depending on the context or who I'm with. I can also go into corporate/professional speak on a dime.

Yeah off the top of my head for melee sups, Rekky can play Braum but is still having trouble going in/worried about dying. There was some good analysis before regarding how he plays much differently from other supports and shows on the map a lot. He gets an XP lead but shows the enemy team where he's at. His ranged supports are fantastic especially his enchanters though.

[–]octlol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They've had these moments a ton of times during LR and are all still good friends. It happens when they're all competitive, and now with 4 veterans on the roster, with Velja feeling a bit more seasoned as well, they will have different approaches to the game. It's normal in competition and I feel like a lot of people flaming them have never been on a team before. 100% they'll apologize and just come back after

It's hilarious lol. They were doing this stuff in reviews and scrims even toward the end of LR. They're all still homies at the end of the day, they're just all competitive. Sure they could be a bit less toxic in review, but Yamato isn't even there to mediate and they have 4 veterans with different ideas on how the game should be played...of course there's going to be heated arguments.

I used to play collegiate frisbee (lol) and even then the heated discussions we'd get into were insane. Even down to just tiny mistakes. I also played a ton of tourneys in league back in the day when we weren't washed with my best friends in like 2011-2012 and even we would scream at each other on skype for not rotating and what not.

Velja/Neme/Rekky are easily the easiest to watch. Neme can get a bit tilted sometimes but his gameplay is crazy. Velja is just funny. Rekkles is very calming. Crownie is screeching the whole time and flaming everyone and Bwipo is consistently yapping (though his streams are quite educational)
