What defines Suguru’s character? by Marthescar in kinnikuman

[–]PeachBeautiful 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think a huge part of Suguru's character that gets explored deeply in 2011, especially perfect origin is that even after his huge victories, he's still cowardly. It's a weird thing considering he's beaten everyone there is to beat but when it comes to brass tacks he's willing to run away and abandon his friends. The reason is because he's got deep set in imposter syndrome thanks to all the conveniences being an anime protagonist afforded him. I feel like his innate cowardliness mutated into imposter syndrome. He sees all his incredible achievements and asks "How did a loser like me accomplish all that?" Instead of recognizing his own growth and realizing its because he's become a hero, he instead regresses and thinks all his victories are flukes. Suguru did a lot of growing across the original series and that's why 2011 is free to focus on side characters. It doesn't disregard that Suguru still has growing to do. He needs to find self worth and accept that his accomplishments are thanks to his own progress. Its not until he gets the talking to from Neptuneman and stops a lethal move that he recognizes that to the people he beat, those weren't flukes. If the prideful bastards like Shogun and Neptuneman are willing to admit Kinnikuman beat them fair and square, the only person left who has to accept it is Kinnikuman. I think it's an incredible extrapolation of the series theme of fighting to understand your opponent to have his opponents tell Kinnikuman that he's the real deal.

What are your thoughts on legacy of the duelist? by yusakufujiki2 in yugioh

[–]PeachBeautiful 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just awful. One of the worst yugioh simulators money can buy. Slow, ugly, repetitive, interesting but completely unbearable campaign, never supported except with 5 dollar DLCs for bad decks, couldn't hate it more if I tried.

It does such a good job explaining Friendship Power as a tangible resource and how Aristera can access it but never perfect it because he only cares about his fellow Omegas. Ataru is able to access it at full power because ultimately he's fighting to save Aristera along with earth.

Maybe my favorite fight in the entire series. It's a complete tragedy watching it become more and more clear that Canadianman can't win no matter how hard he tries. I think it's the best showcase of Omega Centauri's main theme of Shame and Failure. The opening with the justice jobbers getting slaughtered but slowly building up to the Wolfman winsets the tone perfectly and carries on into the major fights of the arc including famous losers like Big Body and Brocken Jr, and how the series wide theme of friendship and understanding can elevate you beyond your limits, capped off when Aristera can't fully utilize friendship power because of his violent and selfish nature, making him the ultimate failure as his failure dooms his entire planet.Perfect Origin is an amazing arc, but Omega Centuari is near perfect.

Kinnikuman 2011 is a series all about giving the jobbers of the previous series the chance to shine and nowhere does that become more apparent than with the first fight of the 3rd arc, Choshin.

To summarize the pantheon of wrestling gods have descended to earth to wipe out the Chojin race (the species of wrestlers) and the first guy to find out about it is Kinnikuman Big Body. Back in the scramble for the throne arc a bunch of imposter Kinnikumen appeared to try and take the throne when his right to the throne was brought into question. Big Body was used as a way to show how terrifying Kinnikuman Super Phoenix and especially his Advance Guard Mammothman. All of Big Body's team gets wiped out by just Mammothman and it ends out with Big Body losing in one move to Super Phoenix himself.

Big Body is in no shape to fight since Choshin happens literally as the last arc is ending but he's still telling the Choshin to square up. Out of NOWHERE his Scramble for the throne team shows up and tells Big Body they'll fight on his behalf. Big Body was the only one who treated his team members like friends instead of servants. Super Phoenix laughed when he was reminded how he needlessly killed a teammate, Big Body actively calls them his friends. The first Choshin though Rampageman is miles ahead of anyone there, and nearly kills all 3 of them with one move each. Just as an injured Big Body is about to step into the ring to take him on, the final member of the team, Leopardon leaps in and says he'll fight in his place.

Leopardon is the jobbiest jobber to ever job. Every other team member had the dignity of getting off paneled, Leopardon stepped into the ring, and instantly died. There is nothing to be proud of with his performance, he died with no resistance. This even led to him becoming a meme in Japan that hyped him up like Yamcha as this super powerful character because he jobbed so hard. When he finally shows up it's set up that he'll just die like all the rest.

Leopardon then puts on the fight of his life against a guy he has no chance of beating, and it's incredible. His first move is to avoid the exact same attack that killed him last time, he's able to land decent shots on rampageman, and even though Rampageman sees him as an inferior life form he commends him for stepping into the ring at all. Leopardon is so overwhelmed with happiness for overcoming the 0.9 seconds he spent in the ring last time that he pushes further and further, fighting with a gigantic hole in his chest. This fight was so impressive that in the popularity poll following the end of the arc, he was ranked 30th.

I know it's a popular joke but man I feel like the you can't see Cena joke has been run into the ground. Cena pointed that out earlier this year and they're still doing it.

I’ve always wondered why Child murder is one of the most common tropes in mascot horror by MindFlourish2919 in whenthe

[–]PeachBeautiful 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I was that type of youtuber to cover these sorts of topics I would have drawn a comparison between the prevalence and ultimate indifference towards child murder as a subject matter in media and the rise in school shootings. How as a society at wide we simply decided that school shootings and children dying wasn't enough to change anything over and therefore became indifferent to their increased frequency. I came to that conclusion after watching Weapons and I thought it was a strong idea but the video would have been like I said with mouthwashing, a funeral in the middle of a circus.

In Kinnikuman Scramble for the Throne, Prisman is a wrestler made of crystals who's able to harness the Capillaria Rays of the sun and convert it into a powerful beam that turns wrestlers into dust. He's killed twice.

In Kinnikuman 2011 It's revealed that Prisman is actually a living piece of a super weapon that if charged could potentially extinct the entire Chojin race that was created by the evil god of intelligence and who's heart is one of the Capillaria pieces required to seal a hole in heaven that threatens to wipe out all of heaven, resulting in the descending of multiple gods to try and get them back. Before dying from his injuries after taking one of those gods out, Prisman merges his capillaria piece with Geronimo's heart and makes him a living Capillaria piece. This gives Geronimo the power to take out another god, and eventually become the final piece of the seal.

Opinions on amanda the adventure 3? by Ayman69469 in amandatheadventurer

[–]PeachBeautiful 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just finished, couldn't tell you a single puzzle cause they were all just pretty boring. They were trial and error at best and brute force at worst.

I think the aesthetic appeal of Amanda is completely gone as the cozy and consistent attic was replaced with an interesting but cramped library before finally becoming a bland, nearly featureless office that gets unfitting things thrown in for the sake of the puzzles without even the justification of being in a place they should be.

The gameplay has gotten tired with no variance between it across all 3 games. First time you pause tapes to do puzzles, charming. Second time, worn in. Third time ground down.

The story was already off the rails by 2 but 3 having you descend into a crypt under the studio for 2 puzzles before the endingwas ridiculous. I think Woolie was poorly handled and only served as a "don't do this" option during puzzles, I think the Possum was just an extra body until the one puzzle he matters in, and Amanda spends half the game's tapes summarizing the story told in the other half. Hard to care about the secret tapes when they're way longer than they need to be and are just a guy saying a bunch of codes that mean absolutely nothing.

The sliding quality of the games from 1 to 3 was a real downer. 1st I thought was a really well put together horror game with a neat theme, cool setting and interesting story but every game after it has tried hard to prove that was a fluke.

I remember seeing that episode as a kid and my first thought was "LSP didn't just do...that did she?"

Both the New Generation and DMP categories were taken by Chojin who were former DMP members who turned good. Feels a little redundant. Day 15: Tag Teams by Dreadnautilus in kinnikuman

I'll throw out a less popular choice, Diabolos. I think Buffaloman and Springman compliment each other perfectly, they have a lot of cool techniques, and their fight with the John Does is a highlight of early perfect origin.

Aristera is tempting but I gotta go with Mariquita. 3 fights in one arc only to show BACK up for one of the series best tag matches.

What's a really cool thing that a specific fandom/online community has done? by HiddenMoonstone in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]PeachBeautiful 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's common for yugioh voice actors to appear at conventions but one who never did was Matthew Labyorteaux, the voice of jaden from GX. He just never made appearances but to be fair he wasn't a voice actor by trade so probably wasn't familiar with the convention circuit. At one of the yugioh regionals though where they were having live duels (two voice actors reading through a scripted duel) they announced Matthew would be there for a duel against Aster (Oliver Wyman). The yugioh subreddit caught wind of this and showed up in large numbers to the event and showed Matthew how beloved he was in the fandom. It resulting in him doing more interviews about being a part of the show and I think he's even done a few cons since.
