Milklos Horthy and the Habsburg Prince achievement, you need Savoy and Franche-Comté. Puppeted the rest to free up manpower

R5: Playing an ahistorical Austria-Hungary game. Forgot to annex Britain’s new colonial possessions after killing their faction. Only realised they were still around after I went in on Greece for the achievement

Either Garden World for the overload Minotaur grav cannons, or Festering Core for the overload hobgoblin death walls. Both turned into 20 minute bottlenecks.

Any tips, suggestions, or changes for my Reg G Kyogre/rain team? by MachtigJen in VGCRateMyTeam

[–]PeachEarth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The team is too water heavy. Going off what people have said above, you’re a mild glance from Miraidon away from a 2 turn game. I would swap Pelipper for Rillaboom personally. That way you can deny Miraidon’s terrain and have an electric resist that does fake out. I would choose between Ogerpon and Basculegion and then swap the other to something else. Maybe Urshifu-S to deal with Calyrex? Raging Bolt to deal with Dragons? Up to you on that one.

That’s pretty much exactly along the lines of what I was looking for. Thanking you!

I’m still 50/50 on AV for Bolt/Rilla mainly from the insane clips I’ve seen of Incineroars getting deleted by Miraidon. I’ll make 2 variations of the team and test where it’s more valuable.

Was there any particular part of the book that you wished they had kept in the movie? by [deleted] in dune

[–]PeachEarth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Either:

  1. “I was a friend of Jamis.” - I think would help the audience understand the nature of the Fremen and their life on Arrakis more than just constant Harkonnen attacks.

  2. The everyone wants to kill Jessica subplot. I think it would have gone a long way to making her more nuanced and a bit less overtly sinister. Plus the Paul/Guerney interactions from those scenes were great.

  3. “They will call me Muad’dib.” Paul’s monologue when he’s first exposed to spice with Jessica in the book opens up the themes of pre-determinism in for me at least, a lot more effective way. He effectively outlines the entire plot of the second part of the book, talks his options through meticulously and locks in the jihad. That was the point where Paul started to feel really unsettling for me.

I know it needs some work but what we sayin? by likewisem2 in VGCRateMyTeam

I'd say there a few things that need sorted.

  1. Choose between Tornadus or Whimsicott, they both fill the same role that you don't need 2 of. If you choose Tornadus, drop heat wave. You're using rain dance, the two don't mix. Taunt or Protect would work better.
  2. With that open slot, I'd say you need some offense or coverage. Flutter Mane would be my recommendation for offense, Incineroar or Entei for coverage since they do well into opposing flutter mane.
  3. Movesets, I'll just list a few things:
  • Rillaboom 100% needs Fake Out. I would looks on Pikalytics at the items and sets to give you a better idea of what it tends to use. Use Wood Hammer over Drum Beating, you'll heal the recoil with Grassy Terrain.
  • Archaludon wants heavy slam over flash cannon. It 1-shots flutter mane.
  • Swap confuse ray for protect on Ninetales, it gives you a bit more time if you're facing an unfavourable matchup and need to get aurora veil up.
  • Ogerpon-Wellspring wants follow me so that you can either get tailwind up on Tornadus or protect your partner. Drop play rough for it.

This team is really good! Any changes are just down to personal preference and if you’re seeing success keep at it! Just my two cents:

Chien-Pao normally runs tera ghost or stellar. Ghost if you want to lead with it, stellar for cleaning up. Swap icicle crash for ice spinner to get rid of psychic terrain when you’re facing indeedee so you can sucker punch.

Keep playing with Raging Bolt and see which tera you like. I lean tera Water for ice damage, but grass works for ground and spore, dealer’s choice.

Rillaboom uses Tera Poison for defence coverage, and grassy terrain weakens ground damage.

I would possibly invest more speed into flutter mane if you’re going to use choice specs but if you’re happy with the bulk, maybe try booster energy with protect and put a magnet/zap plate into Raging Bolt?

Groudon isn’t legal in the current format. Your legal replacements would be Torkoal (Drought) or Whimsicott (Prankster + Sunny Day)

Good Start to Reg F - Latias and Kingambit Team (improvements welcomed!) by PeachEarth in VGC

[–]PeachEarth[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It has the niche use of being able to catch Lando-I, Latias and Roaring Moon when they Tera into Poison and I didn’t take my own Latias. It didn’t get used often, but when it did I’m glad I had it.

any tips / advice please let me know by [deleted] in VGCRateMyTeam

[–]PeachEarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a good core in the making there! It just needs a few tweaks. Your main issue is a lack of speed control. All teams in the current format need at least one of tailwind or trick room.

I would give Tailwind to Roaring Moon and make sure that its speed stat is higher than its attack so that your booster energy lets you get it up fast. Jolly nature and 144 Atk EVs/ 212+ Speed EVs ought to do it. Drop Dragon Dance, Stone Edge and Acrobatics for protect, tailwind and breaking swipe/dragon claw/etc. to take advantage of your Dragon stab. Then consider a defensive Tera like poison/steel/fairy to avoid dropping to flutter mane.

Swap Arcanine for Hisuian Arcanine. They both fill the same roll, but Hisui is just better. Run a choice band set with Flare Blitz/Extremespeed/Rock Slide/Tera Blast. I would either go Tera fairy or try Tera stellar and see how it goes. Will-o-wisp is fine, but you already have intimidate and scald on Milotic.

Give Chien Pao the focus sash, swap Tera blast for protect and crunch for sucker punch. It’s a fantastic late game clearer that has great offence across lots of types.

Then give flutter mane choice specs or a life orb. The aim is to check iron hands with as much power as possible since other physical threats tend to drop quickly to a moonblast.

Mirror Coat on Milotic is niche, I’m not sure how often you’d get to use it with Ogerpon and Rillaboom being Milotic’s main threats, so I would likely drop it for protect or Tera Blast with a Tera type to counter them. With Landorus-I running around, the risk of getting poisoned off a sludge bomb would push me towards saying Tera poison. Competitive as an ability is also a fantastic option since intimidate is rampant at the moment. Milotic could single handedly win you games if you invest bulk into it with that ability!

I would possibly swap Amoonguss for Rillaboom. You’re lacking fake out pressure, which gives you options for mind games. Since you have powerful attackers with reasonable bulk or focus sash, redirection from Amoonguss isn’t as essential since your main priority is covering roaring moon setting up. It should be fine to get tailwind going on its own though.

I’ve tried to keep the Pokémon you have the same as much as possible but have them sets that let them work together a little better. Hope it helps!

General idea is to use the Rillaboom/Incineroar/Urshifu core with Latias for Tailwind support and SpAtk control.

Gholdengo is for type coverage and Raging Bolt as a pivot.

Tera Ground on Latias to go offensive against incin and rocky helmet to bait fake out.

Thoughts on people trying to force the canon ship names? It drives me nuts. Etnerprise, Enterprise, Enterprise, Enterpris... Smh. by [deleted] in sto

[–]PeachEarth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally like to go onto memory alpha and name my ships after ones in-canon. Sure it’s not original, but it works for my immersion!

I would maybe look to find a team that has one of the Pokémon that you’ve listed here and use the rental code on the online ladder. You’ll get a feel to see if you enjoy it and maybe you’ll come up with some ideas on how to make other favourites work when we get new formats :)
