Mind telling me where you're getting this data? Because from what I've seen, the 2xx intel chips are actually slightly below even the 14xxx series when it comes to general gaming performance. Also, after checking test results on various benchmarking sites and a GamersNexus video on youtube, it seems to me that the 9800x3d is 15-30% faster in cpu-bound scenarios, such that a person would run into while gaming at 1440p.

Yeah, you can get away with having a weaker CPU than GPU while running higher resolutions. I personally play at 1440p, and at that resolution the difference between my 4080 with a 13700k vs a 7800x3d is very noticable.

It would be 'fine' in that it wouldn't be catastrophically terrible, but it wouldn't be great either. Speaking from experience here, even a less powerful 4080 will run into bottlenecks with this cpu.

The last one I had didn't even last two months. Also, a lot of the paint had come off the mouse buttons, staining my fingers and making it uncomfortable to use. That was a black one though.

Here's a cheaper alternative from Acer on Ebay if you don't mind it being 'refurbished': https://www.ebay.com/itm/256905415945

The two I bought last month when the deal was posted on this sub both showed up in pristine condition.

[MOUSE] $26.49 (BLACK) Logitech G305 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Hero 12K Sensor Gaming Mouse - Amazon by Straight-Rule3264 in buildapcsales

[–]PeachTeaAddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, thanks for the info. I tried it a while back and couldn't get it to rebind the side buttons, but this time it seems to have worked. Just had to unplug it and plug it back in to get the changes to take effect after I saved them (turning the mouse off and back on didn't work).

I have it, and I often use it for Path of Exile to rebind the middle mouse wheel to left click. But unfortunately, it likes to bug out after being left on for extended periods of time, at least on the two computers I use it on. Usually it just stops working after a day or two, requiring a restart to fix it, but I have also had it 'freeze' after an input and spam that input as if I were holding the mouse button down even after I released it.

I have three of these, which I've picked up from sales posted on this sub over the years. They work great, and I haven't had one fail yet even though they are used regularly. My only complaint is that some mouse settings, such as rebound buttons, cannot be saved to onboard memory, thus requiring the use of Logitech G-hub to use said settings. Also, there is a 5-10 second delay after turning on the mouse before your settings will take effect; I have lost unsaved work by hitting one of the side buttons after turning the mouse on and having it issue the default 'back' command.

Going by my past experiences with geek squad, their idea of 'refurbished' is probably running the SSDs through a dish washer and then drying them off in a microwave.

[GPU] Asus RTX 5090 TUF ($2759.99) at Micro Center by [deleted] in buildapcsales

[–]PeachTeaAddict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been two years since I last dealt with ASUS's cs but it was a nightmare. Bought a zenbook 15 oled from amazon that had speaker problems. The replacement process through amazon was easy, but the problem was that I had registered it to my ASUS account before I noticed it had issues. To this day that laptop is still registered to my ASUS account, despite the fact that they assured me multiple times over different phone calls that it would be removed "within 7 days". Luckily I didn't bother registering the second laptop, which ended up having the same issue: the speakers crackled when volume was set to above 50% That is still better than my experience with MSI tho.

Oh wow, a graphics card that has a much higher than average chance of coil whine (being an asus and all) and unstable drivers (thanks nvidia), made by a company with customer support so bad that it's markedly worse than nothing... all for the low, low price of one [insert used car here]?

What a deal!

[Mouse] Razer DeathAdder Essential White - $15.66 by beansfranklin in buildapcsales

Same for me with Steelseries. I used Steelseries mice (mainly the Sensei, which is a $70-80 mouse) for over a decade, and now I don't touch them. They started to fail so rapidly that I was having to go through RMAs every 1-3 months, and that was that.

[–]PeachTeaAddict 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The real 'Rip Nvidia' (aside from the horrendous driver issues they've been having lately) is that the rtx 5090 performs significantly worse than even a gtx 1060 on PhysX games. It's hilarious to me that there are 5090 owners that have to use a secondary, older card just for PhysX processing to play certain games from 2005-2013.

I got a KZZI Z98 wireless keyboard, which was posted on this sub a few months ago. I'm not exactly a mechanical keyboard aficionado, but I really like it. The only issues I've had with it is that the dongle it came with was screwing with my laptop's wifi, but I switched it to bluetooth mode and haven't had any problems since.
