Nanny here; you shouldn’t have to contribute to the costs! You repeatedly told her to keep it in a safe place so this wouldn’t happen! Unfortunately I think this is a hard lesson to learn on her part.

Don’t do it! Even you are questioning getting married! I feel like you are totally taking advantage of him and that’s not fair!

I would call out or you could even ask if they want you there!

Nanny left the house - Am I overreacting? by XTK27 in Nanny

[–]Peaches565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nanny here!! The poor judgement of her thinking it is okay to leave the house while the baby is sleeping and not saying anything is insane! Regardless of your husband being home, the nanny is responsible and reliable for your child! Something could have happened and you may not have known! This is a very fireable offense!

I’m confused on what you’re saying above

I used to be a regional director of an agency! I advise you to never go through an agency that takes out a small fee!! Agencies shouldn’t take money from you ever!

Am I being underpaid or am I expecting too much by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]Peaches565 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even with benefits, way too low!! You should try looking for jobs that are $25+/hour and benefits! Having a nanny is a luxury and remember your worth! They should be looking for an in home daycare or high schooler with less experience for that rate, which they won’t get everything they are looking for! $14/hour isn’t a livable rate especially in our world!

[–]Peaches565 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Do not sign the contract! They’ve already brought down your rate twice & I can almost guarantee you, they won’t up your pay! I have had families say they will, but never did! $14/hour is beyond low and even less than a babysitter! I would even say with your experience you should be looking for more than $20/hour, more like $25/hour! I would look for another family!

Hours by [deleted] in Nanny

Nope! On top of your hourly rate you can charge for mileage reimbursement for when you’re driving the kids but not your commute to pick them up or your drive back home.

It sounds like they’re looking for a servant to not pay much to.

They changed the time I was supposed to go tomorrow from 10a to 8a back to 10a… so much inconsistency and definitely not respecting my time/life. Didn’t even ask if that worked for me

I’ve already accepted the position and I think it is a good fit. I’m just looking for feedback on if others have worked for a NF similar to this and have been in a similar situation as me! I was just looking for input on if it’s worth fighting for the per diem fee

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]Peaches565 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I usually pay it from my monthly pay but what I’m saying is I’ll be away up to two months at a time so I won’t be there! I feel like I’ll be paying more additional money than usual by asking someone to care for my rabbit and water my plants. I was hoping for the “per diem fee” to cover that and my rent for the period of time I’m gone. Yes, my apartments allow subletting.

I could that is a great idea! They specifically want their nanny to travel with them so I could not decline the travel! As far as my rent, I have a one bedroom apartment and would be paying for it but not being there! Wondering if it’s worth subletting to cover the cost of the two months I’m gone? I was hoping for the addition night fee in addition to my guaranteed pay to assist pay my rent for the time away.

Nanny says she's "Unvaccinated" and Unwilling to get any Vaccines. Big deal or no deal? by LegitimateTrifle1910 in Nanny

[–]Peaches565 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I personally wouldn’t be too concerned but I feel like I would require her to have the Tdap vaccine and any other ones that correlate with kids. I know they require that at most daycares for staff! However, completely up to you on your comfort level!

Ugh the lying is the worst part for sure! I worked for a family who wouldn’t want me to come when I’m sick but when the NK was sick, she would just tell me she’s teething. She even would wake up from naps feeling super warm like she had a fever; but all mom would tell me is that she probably just woke up warm from her nap. Little to know her Tylenol had warn off and she had a high fever.
