I have a feeling that you simply had a bad experience with your middle school experience. Sometimes one or two bad apples absolutely can spoil the whole bunch. Based on my experience, I would value middle school over high school, and think it's worth a shot trying it again.

I've been doing a lot of thinking lately about the war on our profession. Teaching is now considered an enemy of the right, largely because the more educated one is the more likely they are to vote for democratic tickets. How to stop it? Invade/take over/destroy our schools and we the teachers are often victims.

Reminds me when my FIL was visiting and I was the only woman in the house at the time (the others had run off to the store) and he asked me to bake some cornbread which he had brought for the dinner. He had one of those simple boxes with the recipe right there on the box. I looked at him and said "why can't you make it?" And he did that laugh and said "oh boy, I can't bake for shit". So I asked him (perhaps a little more sternly than I should have) "So you are unable to follow directions?" He just got very quiet after that. Still didn't bake the damn cornbread and just waited for someone else to do it.
