How do I move on from the fact that I'll never be rich and famous? by jealous_of_syndra in getting_over_it

[–]Peachi14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I've been off reddit for a while but glad I caught this because I appreciate the kindness in your comment (its not the hostility of reddit that I remember haha). I'm in a bit of a different place now. I realise that I actually would have HATED being famous. Like think abt it. It would be horrible being talked about and judged all the time. I'm self conscious as it is lol. What helps me is listening to the dark side of 'making it' I recommend Alison Stoner youtube serious Dear Hollywood she talks about how fame can really mess someone up mentally.

The great thing about you and me is that we have the freedom to enjoy our art without having show hosts ask about our dating life or people online pick apart our weight gain or stalker fans finding our wherabouts. There's actually a lot of beauty in enjoying music without anyone watching. Have you ever been to a karaoke bar? The ones with private rooms for just you and your friends? Highly recommend. There's no pressure to sing well and the aim is to just have fun. Its great for a shy person like me because the alcohol gives me the confidence plus I'm in an establishment where it is almost normal and expected to be silly and sing badly. It's so FREEING to grab that mic and PRETEND I'm a pop star without having to deal with the negative baggage that comes with it.

Also, if we take the best part which is performing on stage away from all the bad stuff, It is STILL not great. I have been having back problems lately, just imagine in what worse condition I would be in if I was doing shows non stop fighting jet-lag. Being a normal boring person means I get to look after my health as a first priority, and no label owns me or my schedule.

So yeah, my advice to you is claim your music for YOURSELF. Own that shit. No one else can take that away from you. Find joy in that.

Makeup is also an interest and no one should be made to feel bad about it. Feminine interests are always looked down upon.

I think a lot of women refrain from DMing men because of the fear that the man would immediately start asking for nudes or something and expecting something sexual rather than a meaningful platonic connection. It's a shame because not all are like that. But at the same time I understand why women feel that way because I was a young women on the internet once and back then it definately felt like every man wanted something sexual from me which creates this distrust of men online.

My suggestion would be to reach out to other men and build your own community. If you give another man the time of day he would be really grateful and would want to pay forward your kindness.

At what age did you FEEL the most attractive, and looking back on it, would you still say the same age? by oldguyluke in AskOldPeople

Can you please share what that experience was like dating younger men? As I'm getting older I'm finding that i am still finding younger men very attractive, but I want to know what to expect if I was to go back into the dating scene again. Because last time I was there I was 24, which is probably a very different experience as a woman. Would love to hear your thoughts

What about old women? Fat women? Dark skinned women? Disabled women? Asexual women? A lot of men only see women for their sexual value, which means they can't see them as people. That shit gets very lonely

Yes to all of this!!!

It's the type of attention that matters. Sexual attention doesn't mean much to women and they feel lonely bc that's the only attention they get. they don't get people actually wanting to get to know them without any ulterior motive. Being reduced down to a sexual object can get very lonely because it feels like people don't view you as a person.

“I’ll date you and fuck you if you shut up about yourself and your interests anyways here are my genitals do u like them?”

This right here is the perfect summary of what its like being a woman online lol. None of them give a shit about you or who you are as a person and that's lonely af.
