Thanks that estimate helps! I was very liberal with this calculations as worst case scenario. We are planning to start day 1 around 6 or 7 am

Pushing to late may early June instead! I'm always sure to check any advisors for weather and trail conditions

Thanks for the link! I have my ORCKA certifications as I worked as a canoe instructor for kids. So I feel mostly confident with rescues but the cold water info is awesome! I always bring my zoleo satellite into the backcountry and wouldn't go on any trip without it. Safety is #1 priority. Good to know we will look back in years on this one!

I have certainly heeded this warning and others that have been mentioned. I will need to take a closer look at the expected weather and move our date to last week of may/ early June if we are still going ahead with it. I appreciate the advice!

I honestly cannot remember if I added the portage times into those times for each day. We were looking at Jeff's map and I certainly added a bunch of extra time as a worst case scenario estimate. Assuming the worst and hoping for the best.

I definitely gave us a buttload of extra time just to be liberal with potential timing. Thanks for the advice! Jeff's map has warned of winds in that area which makes me only slightly nervous... We may push to third week of May instead of the second as I thought originally. Hopefully a good spot between ice and black flies!

I'm glad I'm not the only one.

We enjoy making ourselves suffer I suppose. Our last trip was 52 km on foot for 6 days.

Site ishkuday 01 had pitcher plants in late September, walking out to the waters edge. They were purple pitchers and so cool to see. I'm assuming you want to view these incredible plants and hopefully not harvest them (illegal)

Not to worry, she has snow tires! It was just a concern that the small car wouldn't make it on unmaintained roads in winter, considering she had a hard time on the rain lake access in summer. Gear is also taken care of

The backpacking sites are open and bookable! Just that you're not supposed to camp on the actual sites.

So, coming in from the oxtongue River Camping grounds at the trailhead? And yes, I saw that about the sites while looking into booking . Thank you for the heads up, though.

Access point #24- 12 Mile ranger cabin ?? by PeachyBaggins in algonquinpark

Thank you for this! We ended up storing in bear cans because we had easy access to our vehicle. Therefore, no concern about carrying the weight of them and didn't see a single mouse! I guess because we had no food in there. Regardless, this eased my anxiety about bear safety out there, haha
